BIG MONEY AND PLENTY OF OTHER AWARDS ARE ON TAP FOR SECOND ANNUAL BILL
THOMAS MEMORIAL AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

Swedesboro, NJ (September 27, 2012) – Last year’s Bill Thomas Memorial
Micro-Sprint Nationals at Bridgeport Speedway showcased a big payoff
to competitors. On Saturday October 6, the second annual Bill Thomas
Micro-Sprint National race will have a large monetary reward for the
drivers along with several additional awards. This very special race
honors the late William “Bill” Thomas IV, who passed away on October
23, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer. Thomas was active
in racing since the early 90s and a dedicated backer of Micro-Sprint
racing at Bridgeport Speedway.

As was the case in 2011, a $1000 payday awaits the winners of the
30-lap features for the 270cc and 600cc Micro-Sprints. The take the
green money for this special event will be $80. In addition, feature
finishers in each division shall receive gift certificates towards the
purchase of a RTS Chassis. Plus, Hyper Chassis will be doling out gift
certificates towards the purchase of a new chassis and Delphi Coating
is offering one free powder coating of a frame.

The format for this year’s event has been modified based on input from
several drivers. Upon entry to the pits, competitors in the
Micro-Sprint divisions will pull a pill to determine his or her heat
race group. Each grouping will go out together for timed dashes and an
inversion of the top four (4) in a group will set the starting lineup
of each respective heat race. Drivers not in the top four (4) of their
groups will be lined up in the qualifying events by time. The first
two (2) finishers in each heat race are eligible for the feature
redraw and the fastest qualifier in each grouping will be added as
well providing the driver finishes the heat race in a qualifying
position. All other heat race qualifiers will be assigned a starting
position in the main event by time. The three-division card on this
night of racing on the quarter mile is rounded out with the 4-Cylinder
Enduro Cars. Also, Bill Thomas Memorial Micro-Sprint National t-shirts
will be available for purchase.

On Saturday, October 6, all gates open at 3:00 PM. Hot laps start at
5:00 PM with qualifying to begin shortly afterwards. Admission to the
pit area is $30. General grandstand admission will be $15 with no
charge for kids 12 and under. Entry forms for the Bill Thomas Memorial
