Annual Susquehanna Showdown Set for Friday and Saturday September 21 &
22
Newberrytown,
PA (September 20, 2012) – The
7th Annual Susquehanna Showdown is highlighted with a 50-lap feature
for the 358ci Late Models on Saturday night, September 22 at the Susquehanna
Speedway Park. The race is presented by
Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. The winner
will earn $2,500 for the victory. With
the “Big 3 Challenge” presented by JR’s Paving of Dover, a driver who wins the
their heat race, the $250-to-win Cash Dash (presented by Hammaker’s Racing
Engines) and the 50-lap feature will earn an additional $500 bonus which would
bring their total weekend earnings to $3,250.
Other bonus prizes for the Late Models are available from Bernheisel
Racecars; AFCO Racing Products and Miller’s Racing Parts. The 2-day Susquehanna Showdown will also
include the Super Sportsman Tour and Classic Cars on Saturday night as well as
the PA Sprint Series and Figure 8 Racing on Friday night.
On Friday
night, September 21, all qualifying for the Late Models will be done through
heats races. A blind draw will determine
the heat race lineups for the Late Models.
The Cash Dash presented by Hammaker’s Racing Engines in Grantville will
consist of the 1st and 2nd place finishers from each Late
Model heat with the finishing order determining the stating spots for the 50-lap
Susquehanna Showdown. On Friday night,
there will be a complete program for the PA Sprint Series and a Figure 8 race on
the frontstretch to conclude the evening’s events.
On
Friday night, gates will open for both the pit area at 4:30 p.m. and the
grandstands at 5:00 p.m. with racing
action beginning at 7:00 p.m. General
Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Friday night are Adults (ages 18-59)
$12.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $10.00;
Children (10 & under) are free. Pit
pass prices are $25.00. The minimum age
requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth
certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.
Saturday
night’s activities will be highlighted by the $2,500-to-win 50-lap Late Model
feature event. There will also be
qualifying races and features for the Super Sportsman and Classic Cars. Last chance qualifying races (B-Main and
C-Mains) for the Late Models will be on the schedule.

Last
year’s Susquehanna Showdown had Dover’s Gene Knaub winning the 50-lap Late Model
feature event for the second straight year.
York Haven’s Daryl Sipe won the 30-lap Road Warrior World
Championship. Carmen Perigo Jr. claimed
the Super Sportsman victory for the second year in a row as well. Mike Potts picked up the Four Cylinder Stock
Car feature win on Saturday night.
Former Late
Model winners of the Susquehanna Showdown also include Scott Richwine (2006),
Tyler Hershey (2007), Ashley Barrett (2008) and Jason Miller (2009).
An entry fee is
required only for the Late Models competing at the Showdown. Entry forms may be downloaded from
ww.sspracing.net. or picked up at Miller’s Racing Parts in Mechanicsburg , PA.

The
Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, October
3. It is open to any type of racecars
capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval.
The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each
racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track
time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class.
Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the
public. Each class will receive 4 to 5
rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts
will not be open. Anyone needing fuel
should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open
throughout the night. There
will be no more test & tunes for the Outback Track for the remainder of the
2012 season.
During
the season, SSP will also host Wednesday Night Test & Tune Sessions on
October 17 and October 25 (Thursday). All Wednesday night practices will run
from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All pit passes
from the postponed September 19 Test & Tune may be exchanged for half price
($6.00) pit admission for the remainder of the 2012 season at any Test &
Tune. Pit passes from September 19 must
be presented for exchange. Car entry
fees will be half price for each car ($10.00) from September 19 and may be used
once for the remainder of the season.

Susquehanna Speedway Park is located midway between Harrisburg and York off I-83

Track Rental for the “Big Track”
– The “Big track” is available for rent.
The “Big Track” rental fee is $1,400.00 for 4 hours and may be split
between a maximum of five-(5) drivers/teams.
Only one car is permitted on the track at a time. If an ambulance is requested, it is an
additional $75.00 per hour. For
nighttime rentals at the “Big Track”, an additional $100.00 per hour will be
charged for lights. To reserve either
