747 Landing at Five Mile Point Speedway for Pioneer Pole Buildings-VP Racing Fuels Short Track SuperNationals: Ryan Godown Files Entry for Oct. 6 "Working Man's Race" of 2012

KIRKWOOD, NY - A 747 is set to land on a quarter-mile strip in Kirkwood, N.Y.

Ryan Godown, the Ringoes, N.J., star enjoying a breakout season in Northeast dirt Modified racing, has filed an entry for the Short Track SuperNationals presented by VP Racing Fuels and Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. on Oct. 6 at Five Mile Point Speedway.

The fifth anniversary SuperNationals rewards drivers with $455 to take the green flag plus a growing list of bonuses and special awards!

Godown plans to drive a John Chemidlin-backed Troyer for his second career attempt at the SuperNationals, headlined by a 50-lap big-block/small-block Modified main event.

It has been a year to remember for Godown, who has won events in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He leads the New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway point standings with six feature wins at the Garden State half-mile oval. He has three Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour victories in '12: the March visit to Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway, a June stop at Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway and an August event at N.Y.'s The Ridge Speedway, his first-ever visit to the quarter-mile oval.

One of Godown's most memorable performances came at Pa.'s Penn Can Speedway in June when he marched from 26th to finish second in the $10,000-to-win 'Clash at the Can' RoC Dirt Modified Tour event, passing many of the best in the business with ease on the one-third-mile oval. Godown has indicated he will be back at Penn Can on Oct. 12 to challenge for the 'King of the Can' 50-lap gold.

The nephew of dirt Modified legend Stan Ploski was able to clinch the RoC Dirt South Region crown and will chase the overall title during the autumn months.

Godown was a top-five finisher at Five Mile Point in his most recent visit to the track for a RoC Dirt Mod Tour event in a July 60-lap event. He placed fifth. His only previous SuperNationals start came in '10 driving Norm Hansell's No. 357. He charged from dead last into the top-10 only to suffer a flat tire on the race's final lap.

The fifth 'Working Man's Race' at Five Mile Point is shaping up to be the richest to date for Modified racers. A large number of bonus and award sponsors have signed on to support the SuperNationals in 2012. A complete list, updated frequently, can be found online at www.bdmotorsportsmedia.com.

Registration is currently underway. Entry forms have been posted to the BD Motorsports Media website. Brian Malcolm of Lake Ariel, Pa., earned two free pit passes to the SuperNationals via a drawing of the first 10 early entries received. The drawing took place in Victory Lane at Penn Can Speedway Aug. 24. All remaining pre-entered drivers who file an entry prior to Sept. 30 will be part of a second drawing to be held at the drivers' meeting on race day for a pair of $50 gas cards. Registration in advance is just $15: $20 less than it had been in 2006 when the SuperNationals was first contested!

Modified rules allow for big- or small-block engines, gasoline or methanol, sail panels or windows, an open tire rule (run weekly at a Northeast dirt Modified facility), with a draw for position setting the heat-race starting orders. Complete rules and race procedures have been posted on the BD Motorsports Media website.

The Comfort Inn of Binghamton, N.Y., 1000 Front Street just miles from the speedway off Interstate 81 Exit 5, serves as the host hotel with a group rate of $99/night. Contact the Comfort Inn by phone at 607.724.3297 and mention "SuperNationals" to receive the discounted rate.

Joining the Modifieds on the program are Street Stocks (under 2011 Race of Champions rules, 25 laps) and a Four Cylinder Open event (18 laps). ALL racing activity takes place on Saturday (Oct. 6) with an open practice on Friday (Oct. 5) evening.

Admission Prices
For Saturday's (Oct. 6) program, Adult grandstand admission is $19. For Seniors (ages 62 and over) and Youth (Ages 13-17), admission is $15. Kids 12 and under are admitted FREE.

An affordable 'Family Five Pack' promotion returns this year. For $45, a family receives two Adult tickets, three Senior and/or Youth tickets, five hot dogs and five sodas.

Pit admission on Saturday is $30 with any speedway or series license and $35 without. The $2 Five Mile Point weekly ambulance fee will not be in effect.

For Friday night's (Oct. 5) open practice, pit admission is $20. There is no charge for the grandstands.

Schedule
For Saturday's event, pit gates open at 2 p.m. Grandstand will be unlocked at 3 p.m. Support-division (RoC Street Stock and Four Cylinder) hot laps hit the track at 4 p.m. Heat races for RoC Street Stocks and Four Cylinders begin at 4:45 p.m.

The Modified portion of the program kicks off with hot laps at 5:45 p.m. Modified heat races begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Support-division feature events will be run as part of the night program to allow Modified teams time to prepare their equipment for subsequent events.

On Friday, pit gates open at 5 p.m. for practice. The speedway will host practice from 6-9 p.m.

Camping
Camping is permitted and encouraged at the Short Track SuperNationals on Friday and Saturday nights. Camping is FREE of charge. There are no hookups. Those wishing to stay with their campers on the backstretch must purchase a pit pass as the area is an active pit during Saturday's event.

All individuals planning to camp must use the grassy area off the backstretch. Camping will not be permitted in the turn-four pit area or spectator parking lot with respect to the neighboring community.

Previous Short Track SuperNationals Modified winners include Duane Howard of Oley, Pa., (2011), Holland (2010), Kevin Hirthler of Boyertown, Pa. (2009) and Mike Ricci of Rosendale, N.Y. (2006).
