50TH ANNIVERSARY CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY

FOUR STAR LETTERING/GREEN LANE WM PENN CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW SATURDAY, GET YOUR ADVANCE 76’ER TICKETS

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 6, 2012 . . . Duane Howard and Chuck Schutz have already won their titles. Howard, winner of nine feature races, has earned his fifth NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified championship. Schutz has taken his sixth Late Model championship.
The only title to be decided is the Sportsman championship; the new action packed division that was added to Saturday night racing at Grandview this season, and it is down to a battle between point leader Jared Umbenhauer and challenger Brad Brightbill. Just 152 points separate them. That title will be decided this Saturday night, September 8th, when Four Star Lettering/Green Lane Wm Penn presents the 50th Anniversary Championship Night at Grandview Speedway.
However there are many other point battles going in as a number of drivers trying to move in the end of the season standings so the point fund pay check they get at the November 17th Awards Banquet will be bigger.
Of course many of the Modified racers will be using the Saturday night event as a final “practice” session as they get ready for the big BPG Racing Freedom 76 coming up on Saturday, September 15th that will reward the winner with $50,000 plus.
The 50th Anniversary Season Championship Night, sponsored by Four Star Lettering/Green Lane Wm. Penn, will feature all three of the regular divisions of competition and that includes NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman.
There will be a helmet collection by a number of drivers going through the stands at intermission to raise money for Bobby Gunther Walsh’s father, Joe Walsh, who was seriously injured in an incident at another speedway. Mr. Walsh is continuing to recover but has a long way to go.
Racing action gets the green at 7:30 p.m. with spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. Pits open at 4 p.m. Adult admission in the grandstands is just $15 while youngsters under 12 are admitted FREE.
Fans are reminded that this is the final Saturday night opportunity to purchase advance tickets for the big BPG Racing Freedom 76 coming up on Saturday, September 15th. Adult admission tickets are $40 while youngsters 6 through 12 pay just $10. Kids under 6 will get in FREE. Pit admission is $50. Advance and season ticket holders will be admitted at 3 p.m. while ticket windows will open at 3:30 p.m.
Those attending the BPG Racing Freedom 76 are reminded that season ticket holders have the rights to their reserved seat for this event.
This will also be the last opportunity to purchase lap sponsorships which are priced at just $10 and can be had by seeing Marilyn in the speedway office.
The September 15th race has a Saturday, September 22nd rain date following the same schedule. More than $85,000 in prize money and lap money will be paid out for the Classic that is expected to attract many of the top names in dirt track modified stock car racing as they try to earn a starting spot and make a run for the rich victory. If the September 22nd rain date is not needed there will be NO OPEN COMPETITION stock car racing on that date.
Fans are reminded that there will be no new Grandview Groove published this week as all efforts are going into the 52 page (including color covers) BPG Racing Freedom 76 Program/Yearbook. The book will have 10-pages of color. There will be a history of the speedway by Randy Kane, a history of the BPG Freedom 76 by Tammy Auman, final points; loads of old time photos, a complete list of Saturday night feature winners and much, much more. The book will be priced at $7.00 and a large number of already been reserved for those who have ordered by mail.
This Saturday fans will be able to purchase back issues for just $1 and that will give everyone the opportunity stuff the ballot box for the Most Popular Driver in each division, win the $600 that is available in the Blue Bell Air Pick 3 Modified Contest, and win one of three pair of tickets for the end of September Dover International Speedway NASCAR Sprint Cup race. Included with the points will be the current point standings and a complete story on last Saturday’s racing events.
