HOWARD, SCHUTZ AND BRIGHTBILL LEAD POINT BATTLES AS STOCK CAR ACTION CONTINUES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 3, 2012 . . . There are close battles for NASCAR
championships going on in all three Saturday night divisions of stock car racing
at Grandview Speedway as another tripleheader card of 358 Modifieds, Late Models
and Sportsman racing is set for Saturday, May 5th, with a new starting time of
7:30 p.m.
The Mobil 1 Night of racing, with feature winners receiving a case of Mobil 1 in addition to their cash prizes, will see three feature winner Duane Howard trying to increase in lead in the chase for the lucrative NASCAR 358 Modified title. Howard currently has 1204 points with Jeff Strunk having 1082 points and holding second spot while Craig VonDohren is third with 1048 counters. All three drivers are multi-time champions at the one-third-mile, banked clay oval.
Five time Late Model champion Chuck Schutz has not been to victory lane so far in the early season racing action but consistent performance has the defending champion tallying 1132 points. Danny Snyder, who stole a win last Saturday, is second just 44 points behind. Ron Kline, a two feature winner this season, is third in the standings.
And Brad Brightbill, son of dirt track racing legend Kenny Brightbill, is leading the standings in the new Sportsman division with 1136 counters and one feature win. He is just 64 points in front of Dave Dissinger while Paul Kline is third in the chase for the title.
Saturday night racing action will include qualifying events for the three divisions topped off by a 30-lap feature for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds with at least 28 cars taking the green, a 20-lapper for the Late Models and a 25-lap feature for the Sportsman stocks.
Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted FREE. There is FREE parking on the speedway grounds. Pit admission is $30 and those entering the pits must have a NASCAR license.
Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. and spectator gates will open at 5:30 p.m.
