RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES
OPENING DAY FAST APPROACHING. . . .
RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES TO OPEN AT DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL
SATURDAY NIGHT, APRIL 28
The sixty-fifth season of the United Racing Company will open
at the Delaware International Speedway on Saturday night, April 28 and early
indicators point to a strong car count.
Many drivers and owner in the field will be looking for their
first ever Rislone URC Sprint Series Championship and the list includes Josh
Weller, Ed Aikin, Robbie Stillwaggon, Randy West, Joey Biasi, Andy Best, Tim
Hogue, Art Liedl and defending Rookie of the Year, Troy Betts. Don’t count
out former URC Champion Kramer Williamson as he too would like to capture the
coveted URC championship crown just one more time. Williamson is a sixty-seven
time URC feature winner along with winning multiple Central Pennsylvania Sprint
Championships, the Williams Grove National Open and several World of Outlaws
feature events.
Two drivers also expected to be in the opening day field are
Ryan Bohlke driving the Guy Howie owned sprinter and Davie Franek. Both Bohlke
and Franek are past winners with URC. Franek scored his first URC win in June
of 2011 at the Delaware International Speedway, the track that will open the
URC season in 2012.
Several rookie drivers are looking to compete with URC in
2012 including a very excited Dan Mazy of Alburtis, PA. Mazy will be leaving
the stock cars to go sprint car racing in the coming year. The team is well
equipped and prepared for a full season with URC. Other rookie drivers
include Steven Downs of Georgetown, DE and Chris Glandan of Frederica,
DE.
At least six increased payoff events are on the Rislone URC
Sprint Series schedule including the $3,500 to win Jack Gunn Memorial at
Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday, May 12, the Bar’s Leaks Nationals paying
$3,000 to win to all URC Members, on Saturday night, July 7 at the New Egypt
Speedway, the $4,000 to win Rislone Nationals at the Williams Grove Speedway on
Friday night, August 3rd, the Lincoln Speedway will host an
increased purse on Saturday night, August 4 paying $2,500 to win. On Friday
night, August 24 the Williams Grove Speedway will have an increased payoff of
$2,200 to win and the season finale, on Saturday night, October 13 will be the
Pioneer Pole Buildings $3,000 to win features only event. Still to be announced
are the details on the August 10 Black Rock Speedway event.
