RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES

JOSH WELLER EYES VICTORY IN RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES OPENER SATURDAY, APRIL 28 AT DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

The “Wild Child” Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA will be in the field when the Rislone URC Sprint Series opens their sixty-fifth season on Saturday night, April 28 at the Delaware International Speedway.

Weller, undecided over the winter months about his plans for 2012 announced today, that they plan to chase the URC Championship Title. Weller finished a strong third in the 2011 Rislone point chase and was in striking distance of the title most of the season. Driving the family owned #63, Josh had one win last year with a career total of four URC wins. 2012 will mark the eighth season with URC for Josh Weller.

Sponsors riding with the Weller URC sprint car include Assured Automation, Phillips Garage, CnB Mushroom, Shearers Sales & Service, RFG Water Heaters, Hunter Peterbilt Truck Sales and BDU Incorporated. Rick Weller will be car owner and crew chief joined by his wife Kim, Tina Weller (Josh’s wife), Chris Swoyer and Bobby Gash who will make up the all-important crew.

“We plan to run for the championship and to do that we need to finish well and avoid tearing up equipment”, said Rick Weller when he announced their plans to run URC this season. There is continued talk about URC ‘s move to double file restarts in the coming season. “I have my own opinion about it and it’s different then Josh, who seems to think it could play to his advantage. Rick added, “It’s going to be one of those things that can help you one night and hurt you on the next night, but we’ll have to wait and see”.

Over the past three seasons, Josh Weller has quickly developed into one of URC’s best, a threat for a win and always in the thick of the title chase. He is remarkably fast at one of URC’s most challenging and non-forgiving speedway’s, that being Grandview. As a car owner, Rick Weller is not real thrilled with the one-third mile bull ring, but his son seems to have the place figured out and knows how to get to the front. On the big tracks, Josh is very comfortable and always finds himself in the thick of the action. Although not on the URC schedule this year, Josh especially likes the Georgetown Speedway where the speeds are high and he finds his way around with ease. It’s one of those tracks that you either love it or hate it.

The announcement of Josh Weller returning to the Rislone URC Sprint Series is still another strong endorsement of the organization. The talent filled roster also includes Ed Aikin, Kramer Williamson, Randy West, Robbie Stillwaggon, Chad Trout, Jonathan Swanson, Joey Biasi, Art Liedl, Tim Hogue, Jimmy Stitzel and Andy Best just to name a few. Defending rookie star Troy Betts has signed up for the entire season and URC rookies for 2012 include Chris Glandan, Dan Mazy, Steven Downs and Ryan Kissinger.

URC offers many incentives for the coming season from increased payoffs, bonus money for URC regulars and a well-priced American Racer right rear tire that will be sold for $159. We invite all interested parties to visit the URC website at: www.urcsprints.com and be sure to go to the Competitors Page for all the details.
