& CARBER DODGE THE WEATHER FOR BIG D WIN
Under thick overcast skies and periodic trickles of rain,
72 cars presented themselves for competition, for the second Saturday night of
racing at Big Diamond Speedway. After
qualifying and a short intermission period to groom the track, the Central PA
Legend cars entered the speedway for their main event.
Setting the early pace was INEX division Master Scott
Gobrecht who came into the night 3rd in points in the Baker Door
Company ~ GCS Central Pennsylvania Legends 2012 Point Standings. A caution came out on lap 7 tightening the
field and allowing Harlon Leppo to capture the lead and go on for the
victory.

The intermittent light showers delayed the start of the
305 20 lap feature as the TSRS 305 Sprint Car officials awaited the thumbs up
sign from their drivers and from the drop of the green Joe Lord Jr. put his 9
car out into the front of the pack but following a lap 10 caution current points
leader Brian Carber challenged defending points champion Chriss Allen and Lord
for the lead. Carber took to the high
side, Lord stayed on the bottom and it was Carber taking the lead for good by
lap 12.

The Pro Stocks and Thundercars took to the
3/8th mile oval next seeing Eric Hollenbach jump out to the early
lead to never look back. Last week’s
feature winner performed some great driving to real down the 12 car of
Hollenbach but time was not on his side.
The night belonged to Eric. Gary
Grim of Fleetwood piloted his 127 Thundercar home first for his
division.

The final event of the evening turned time back to the
60’s and 70’s as the Blast From the Past Vintage Stock Car Club entered the
track for the first time this season and Brian Gagliardo piloted his #76 car to
victory lane in a manor that would do that era’s driver proud.

Sunday, April 15th will be the Big Diamond
Speedway first points race of the season for the 358 modifieds, Roadrunners and
the Sportsman will also be competing for the first of five Amsoil Racing Series
events. Racing is set to begin at
6pm with the gates opening at 3pm.
General Admission is $15 for Adults, Seniors and military $12, kids 6 to 12 $5
and children 5 and under are FREE. Hope
