RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES

2012 IS SHAPING UP TO BE ANOTHER STRONG YEAR FOR THE RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES, ART LIEDL RETURNS TO THE URC ROSTER

The organization of sixty-five years is hearing renewed excitement as feedback from many teams is positive about URC.

There is a strong feeling that with today's economy, the twenty-race schedule is one the competitors can support. Flemington, NJ driver Art Liedl is one driver that is very optimistic as the Saturday, April 28 opener at the Delaware International Speedway quickly approaches. Liedl will start his fourth season with URC and he is getting closer to his first win with every start. "For us to win, we need our equipment to stay together and a good starting spot is always an advantage. URC is a tough division and it seems like all the good cars are always in front of me when I look at the line-up, " said Liedl.

"If the car is close, we usually go with a set of new tires and go from there. We learned that the tires play a big part in your success", added Liedl. For the coming year, URC has worked out a very affordable tire plan for the race teams, with an American Racer right rear tire selling for $159. "The tire price is very good and it makes everyone run on an even playing field". Liedl is also open to the idea of allowing 358 sprints to run with URC in the coming season. "The 358 sprints are becoming more affordable and I have two 358 engines in my garage. If needed, I now have a back-up engine," said Liedl.

Sponsors play a big part with the Liedl team and in 2012, his familiar #2 will carry sponsorship from Downs Ford in Toms River, NJ, C&S Equipment in Howell, NJ and Simonek Performance located in North Jersey. "For us, it's a family sport, we're all involved and we all love it", said Liedl. On race night the crew consists of Art's wife Carol, daughters Brenda and Ashley along with Donnie Burke. The Liedl Maxim chassis sprint car will again be powered by a Roush Yates Ford power plant that is maintained week in and week out by Art.

"Racing at different tracks like URC does is a huge learning curve, but of all the tracks we run, I feel the most comfortable at New Egypt Speedway", commented Liedl. Of course that would be his answer as Art Liedl enjoyed much success in the Super Sportsman class at New Egypt prior to 2008.

"As for URC, it's a great organization, one that really cares about their competitors and tries week in and week out to be fair, and we're glad to be part of it", said Liedl.

Liedl is one of many drivers looking for a big start with URC. Ed Aikin, Robbie Stillwaggon, Kramer Williamson, Randy West, Jonathan Swanson, Andy Best, Joey Biasi, Chad Trout, Jason Clauss, Mark Bitner, Troy Betts, Tim Hogue and Kyle Purks are just some of expected opening day competitors.

On the URC website under the Competitors Page, you will find all the fact sheets for the special events as well as the regular event payouts for 2012. The Jack Gunn Memorial, the Rislone Nationals, Bar's Leaks Nationals and the Pioneer Pole Buildings feature only payoff and procedures are posted.
