FREE TO-THE-PUBLIC PRACTICE DAY AT GRANDVIEW MARCH 31
MOBIL 1 TO HONOR TOP CREW CHIEF
BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 22, 2012 . . . Practice makes perfect. At least that is how the old saying goes and a lot of racers will be at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway on Saturday, March 31st to see if that is true.
The noon time practice session is open to all divisions of competition so fans coming out for the free-to-the-public practice session will have a chance to see 358 Modifieds, Late Models, Sportsman, Sprints, 600 Modifieds and a variety of other types of race cars as the teams use the test and tune session to make final adjustments to be ready for the new season.
A large number of race cars are expected to be part of the practice session which will be followed by a 6 p.m. doubleheader racing show that will feature the NEETS Enduro cars and the Blast from the Past Vintage Cars. The NEETS portion of the show will include a 150 lapper for the small cars, 150 laps for the big cars and the ladies will have a 25 lap feature. Admission is $10.
During the course of the afternoon practice session fans who already have purchased season tickets or plan to purchase season tickets will be able pick out the reserved seat that goes with the season ticket.
The practice session will see the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman make final preparations for the official start of the 50th anniversary season at Grandview with a tripleheader set for Saturday, April 7th at 7 p.m. Adult admission is just $15 for regular Saturday night shows and youngsters 12 and under are admitted free. Everyone entering the competition pit area will be required to have a NASCAR license.
Noted area singer Keith Gerhart will kick off the new season with his great rendition of the National Anthem.
A giant tripleheader in honor of 50 seasons at Grandview will feature 50-lap features for the Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman on Saturday, April 14th.
New this year is the announcement of the Mobil 1 Racing Oil Crew Chief Award which will be awarded to the winning crew chief in the Modifieds provided the race car they are involved with carries a Mobil 1 decal. The winning crew chief will be invited to a special luncheon during Champion’s Week in Charlotte come December, 2012 at Stewart-Haas Racing.
In addition a Mobil 1 Night will be presented at Grandview in which Exxon Mobil will provide a case of Mobil 1 Racing Oil to the winning driver of each division on that night. The date is Saturday, May 5.
Grandview Speedway will present more than 40 racing events during the 2012 season making it one of the busiest seasons in the track history.
The highlight of the season will be the BPG Racing Freedom 76 paying $50,000 to win for the Modifieds on Saturday, September 15th.
