BIG DIAMOND'S 40TH SEASON BEGINS AT MALL SHOW

Fairlane Village Mall Hosts Big Diamond Car Show

A preview of the 2012 racing season at the Big Diamond Speedway awaits visitors to the Fairlane Village Mall on Rte. 61 in Pottsville, PA as the Big Diamond Speedway Race Car Show runs Monday-Saturday, March 5-10.

Race cars representing the many divisions of racing scheduled at the Schuylkill County track this season will be on hand throughout the week. Modifeds, Sportsman and Roadrunners are the three divisions that will compete on the 3/8 mile speedway on Friday evenings throughout the season. ARDC Midgets, Thunder Cars, Slingshots, 270 Micro Sprints, 600 Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Speedsters and Vintage Cars will be on hand to represent the varied competition that will appear at Big Diamond on Saturday evenings throughout the 2012 season.

On Friday evening, driver interviews will get the activities rolling at 7pm when track announcer, Tim Pitts takes to the microphone to talk to the drivers about the 2012 season.

The Tire Changing Competition returns to the Friday night mall show again this year. Two man teams will compete against the clock as they make a two tire change on the car of Sportsman competitor, Darryl Dissinger who has offered the use of his beautiful pink and white Race2aCure car for the competition. The winning team will be awarded a pair of passes, good for either grandstands or pits, for any race during the 2012 season.

Following the Friday night activities at the Fairlane Mall, race fans are invited to continue their evening at the Wooden Keg Tavern in Pottsville, PA. The Wooden Keg Tavern will again sponsor the Big Diamond Speedway Roadrunner Division in 2012.

2012 Big Diamond Speedway schedules will be available throughout the week. Competitors will also be able to purchase their 2012 pit license during the week of the mall show and earn a chance to win a BGP American Racer Tire, offered by the Big Diamond Speedway. The winner will be drawn at 7pm on Saturday night, the last night of the mall show. Brett Arnold, a 2012 rookie in the Big Diamond Modified division, was the tire winner at the recent Reading Racing Legends show.
