AMSOIL Series Offers Sportsman Competitors Big Rewards at Big Diamond Speedway
AMSOIL and the Big Diamond Speedway are joining forces to offer Sportsman competitors a five race series at the Schuylkill County track in 2012. Each twenty lap feature event will pay $1,000 to win and ten points toward the special five race point series.
The first of the five race series is scheduled for Sunday, April 15th. The remaining five events will be Friday night shows on May 4th, June 29th, July 20th and August 17th with August 24th to be used as a rain date if necessary.
At the conclusion of the five race series, a $700 bonus, trophy and a case a month of an AMSOIL product of the winner's choice will be awarded to the driver who has accumulated the most points. The second place driver will receive $350 and six cases of an AMSOIL product of their choice. A three lap, one-on-one match race will be used in the event of a tie in the points at the end of the series.
In order to be eligible for AMSOIL series point fund, a driver most compete in all five events. An AMSOIL decal must also be displayed on the designated area of each car in the competition.
Each of the events will also carry regular points for the Big Diamond Speedway's U.S.S. Achey Sportsman title. The championship title will be wide open in 2012 and many of the Big Diamond competitors have their eye on the prize at the end of the season.
Mike Lisowski had the opportunity to take the points lead at midseason in 2011 in his M&J Construction Sponsored #15 but a series of problems kept the Minersville, PA driver out of the top spot. "I'm really looking forward to the 2012 season," Lisowski said. "There are some great opportunities for Sportsman drivers with the AMSOIL five race series and the separate points. It should produce some good competition." Lisowski returns with his Bicknell racer that he debuted during the summer of 2011.
Tim Fitzpatrick has spent his winter months preparing the Schaeffer Harley Davidson T-102 cars for the 2012 season. Fitzpatrick picked up two wins last season and is looking to be in the hunt for the 2012 championship. "This is fantastic," Fitzpatrick stated. "Big Diamond's purse increase, the AMSOIL series - I'm really glad to see that they (Big Diamond) are doing this." "I think it's going to produce good racing. With the attention that is being paid to the rulebook, the sealed engines - it should all produce an even field of cars and reduce the amount of time in the bull pen after the races," Fitzpatrick continued.
Daryl Dissinger and his Race 2 a Cure Team is sponsored by AMSOIL and was instrumental in bringing the sponsor and the speedway together for the five race series. Dissinger is not a full time racer but his level of dedication is first rate. "There will be a new Big Diamond champion this season and I hope it's me," Dissinger stated. Dissinger has recruited more than thirty race teams to his Race 2 a Cure program which continues to grow. There will be a special Race 2 a Cure Night at Big Diamond on June 29th for the third of the AMSOIL series events.
The 40th season of racing at Big Diamond will open on Sunday, April 1st.
