King of the Can Set For Sunday At Penn Can Speedway - "November to Remember" for Southern Tier Race Fans; Prelude to $10,000 'Clash at the Can' of June 2012
SUSQUEHANNA, PA - Take three of the 'King of the Can' is set for Sunday, Nov. 13 at Penn Can Speedway with a favorable weather forecast.

A talented field of big-block/small-block Modified racers is set to do battle in the 'King of the Can' $5,000-to-win 50-lap special postponed twice by rain (Oct. 14 and 16). The lucrative event for Modified racers is a co-promotion involving special events promoter Brett Deyo and track managers Reed Miller and Al Wilcox. In 2011, “It’s good to be king” at Penn Can Speedway.
In addition to the $5,000 Modified winner’s share (up $1,500 from the 2010 running which paid $3,500), some $1,400 in lap money has been raised and will be distributed directly to the racers.
There are special awards and bonuses posted by Manmiller Electric, American Racer/Lias Tire, ERK Steering, S&D Bodyline, BFP Specialty, Selinsgrove Speedway/JGK Motorsports, Shiley Fabrication and more.
Gates open at 1 p.m. with hot laps at 3 p.m. and racing at 4 p.m. Forecasters call for temperatures near 60 degrees on a pleasant autumn afternoon.
Some of the drivers expected to compete are Stewart Friesen, track champion Kevin Hartnett, Pat Ward, Mitch Gibbs, Mike Gular, Jimmy Phelps, Danny Johnson, Danny Tyler, Kevin Bates, Alan Rudalavage, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk and more. The event will serve as a prelude to the historic $10,000-to-win 'Clash at the Can' to be run in June 2012: the highest-ever paying race in Penn Can Speedway's history. The Deyo/Miller/Wilcox promotional team paid $8,000 in the June 2011 'Clash at the Can' and attracted a field of 66 Modifieds. Thanks to the outstanding support shown this year, the winner's share has been boosted to $10,000 and the '12 60-lap main event will pay $300 to take the green flag.
GM 602 Crate Sportsman (25 laps - $1,000 to win) and Trackside Products Race of Champions Street Stocks (25 laps - $500 to win) complete the program. The Trackside Products RoC Street Stock title will be decided on Sunday. Bob Buono currently leads the RoC Street Stock standings.
Modifieds will run first throughout the order of events to benefit traveling racers and fans.
Wristbands and ticket stubs from the Oct. 16 event will be honored at the make-up date.
Draw numbers will be held for the drivers already in attendance at the original date. Additional drivers can participate in this event and will draw from the numbers remaining in the bucket. Registration is $20 for the Modifieds. There is no registration fee for the GM 602 Crate Sportsman or Street Stocks.
Big- (more than 361 cubic inches - 2,500 lbs.) or small-block (316 cubic inches or less - 2,400 lbs.) Modifieds can compete. Any 13- by 92-inch Modified tire can be used. Sail panels are permitted.

The ‘King of the Can’ has been the signature Penn Can event since 1999 when Brian Weaver of Windsor, N.Y., took the inaugural victory.
