For Immediate Release
Re: RoC Dirt Tours
ROC DIRT TOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE DECIDED IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER. 186 DIFFERENT MODIFIED TEAMS HAVE ALREADY COMPETED ON THE TOUR IN 2011.
BINGHAMTON, NYThe 2011 Race of Champions Dirt Tours have had a tremendous season. The Modified, Sportsman and Street Stock Tour titles will all be decided in the weeks to come in October. The first of two remaining Modified tour events will take place this Friday, (Sept. 30th) at the Accord Speedway with the annual 100 lap King of the Catskills event.
The Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour has been nothing short of extraordinary in 2011. A whopping 186 different Modified teams have participated in at least one of the ten previous events this season. The final two 100 lap combination events will take place at Accord Speedway this Friday night and at Five Mile Point Speedway on Saturday, October 29th with the running of the 47th edition of the Southern Tier 100. The combination events award more points than the regular season races and could dramatically affect the current standings.
Currently Billy Decker leads the Modified point standings by 45 markers over both Danny Johnson and Stewart Friesen who are currently tied for second place. Jeff Strunk is in fourth place with Matt Sheppard holding down the fifth position in the standings.
In the first seven RoC Sportsman Tour events 121 different teams have already participated in at least one event. Two events also remain on the Sportsman tour with the first coming at Penn Can Speedway on Saturday, October 15th and then the tour finale will take place at Five Mile Point Speedway with a 100 lap event. The 100 lap finale at Five Mile Point Speedway will pay a minimum of $2,555 to win plus it will pay $200 to take the green for the Sportsman teams. It will also serve as a combination event.
Currently Defending RoC Sportsman Champion Jeff Crambo leads the standings over Sammy Piazza, James Cornell, Brad Szulewski and Clay Butler.
The RoC Street Stock Tour also sees two remaining races for 2011. Penn Can Speedway will host the tour on Saturday, October 15th and then the tour will culminate at Five Mile Point Speedway on Friday, October 28th part of the National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship weekend.
Bob Buono currently leads opening day winner Brenton Miller, Dave Pope, Buck Mills and Paul Harrington in the standings.
