There Is Not Much Billy Pauch Sr. Has Not Done: New Jersey Legend Looks For First-Ever Five Mile Point Speedway Victory At Oct. 8 Short Track SuperNationals "Working Man's Race"
KIRKWOOD, NY - There are very few lines missing from the resume of Billy Pauch Sr. in Northeast auto racing.

A win at Five Mile Point Speedway remains on the "to-do list" for the legendary Frenchtown, N.J., driver. He hopes to correct that on Oct. 8 at the fourth edition of the Short Track SuperNationals at the historic Southern Tier speedway. BD Motorsports Media, in conjunction with Five Mile Point owner Andrew Harpell, presents the SuperNationals for the third consecutive season at the Point. The first SuperNationals was contested in 2006 at Afton (N.Y.) Speedway.

Pauch, the winner of 682 features in his storied career, has filed an entry for the "Working Man's Race" of 2011. His K&A Excavating No. 1 Bicknell will be in the field at the SuperNationals challenging for the $5,000-plus winner's share from the 50-lap big-block/small-block Modified event. Pauch will be competing against his son - Billy Pauch Jr. - who finished second in last year's SuperNationals.

"I never got a win there," Pauch said of the wide and racy quarter-mile oval. "The last few years I've been up there we've run well and so has the kid (Pauch's son Billy Jr.). With a little luck, we can be right in the mix."

Pauch has done his share of winning this season, with 13 checkered flags to his credit at N.J.'s New Egypt Speedway. One of his victories - a midweek show on Aug. 23 - offered a guaranteed starting spot for the SuperNationals. Pauch tows to Five Mile Point knowing he will be in the main event. However, he wants more.

"It's nice to be in with all the cars that race attracts," Pauch said. "But we're going up there hoping for a win."

Pauch also hopes to end a long winless drought inside the borders of New York state. His last victory on Empire State soil came on Sept. 19, 1999 at Albany-Saratoga Speedway driving the D.A. Hanson No. 1.

Pauch, as the overall American Racer East Coast Modified Cup champion for 2011, will be part of the recently announced VP Racing Fuels "Champion's Challenge" paying $650 to the winner. The event - open to '11 American Racer Cup track champions - will be run in elimination race format, with the last-place driver dropping off each lap until a winner is declared.

The fourth running of the Short Track SuperNationals is headlined by a 50-lap big-block/small-block Modified event paying $5,000 to the winner with a $20 "gambler's fee" plus bonuses and lap money. The event offers $300 to take the green flag - an increase of $100 over last season - thanks to a marketing agreement with Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. of Schuylkill Haven, Pa.

Trackside Products Race of Champions Street Stocks (25 laps), a Four Cylinder Open (18 laps) and a Figure Eight World Championship paying $1,000 to win complete the "split program" which will see support-division qualifying take place in the afternoon. The entire Modified portion of the show is reserved for the evening.

Five Mile Point pit gates unlock at 2 p.m. Grandstand gates open at 3 p.m. Race of Champions Street Stocks and Four Cylinders will have hot laps at 4 p.m. with their qualifying events to follow at 4:45 p.m. Figure Eight hot laps will also take place during this period.

On-track activity for big-block/small-block Modifieds begins at 5:45 p.m. with hot laps. Heat races for the Modifieds get underway promptly at 6:30 p.m. Modifieds will not be on the speedway prior to 5:45 p.m.

For just $40, a family of five can attend the SuperNationals and eat/drink! The 'Family Five Pack' offers two Adult tickets, three Youth (ages 13-17) or Senior (ages 62 and over) tickets plus five hot dogs and five sodas. Do the math: it's just $8 per person!

Tickets purchased individually are also well below the industry norm for Modified special events. Adults are $18, Youth and Seniors are $14 and Kids 12 and under are FREE.

All racing activity will be held on the Saturday portion (Oct. 8) of the program, eliminating hotel costs for budget-minded race teams. Friday night (Oct. 7) will be reserved for an open practice session from 6-9 p.m.

Pit admission is $30 for the Saturday event (Oct. 8) while Friday night's (Oct. 7) open practice is $20. Grandstand admission is FREE for Friday practice.

Joining Pioneer Pole Buildings as corporate partners of the event include VP Racing Fuels, Alpine Building & Post Supply, Bob Hilbert Sportswear and Trackside Products.

In its four-year existence, the SuperNationals has gained a reputation as a racer- and fan-friendly event. A healthy purse and open rules package annually attracts a diverse cross-section of talented weekend racers to do battle.

Last year, Modified upstart Justin Holland of White Lake, N.Y., shocked the 72-car field, holding off Billy Pauch Jr. of Frenchtown, N.J., for the SuperNationals victory, bringing home cash and prizes totaling nearly $7,000! Kevin Hirthler of Boyertown, Pa., was the 2009 SuperNationals victor and Mike Ricci of Rosendale, N.Y., topped the inaugural at Afton (N.Y.) Speedway in 2006.

A $1,000 cash bonus for the Modifieds is in place should one driver win both the SuperNationals at Five Mile Point on Saturday (Oct. 8) and the new 'Outlaw 100' event at Brewerton (N.Y.) Speedway on Thursday night (Oct. 6). The highest-finishing driver from Brewerton's Thursday field not to qualify at Five Mile Point Saturday will be added to the main event.

Special awards and bonuses are adding up for the SuperNationals and have been posted with complete race information, rules, pricing and more on the event website:
www.bdmotorsportsmedia.com. Lap sponsorships are on sale at $20 per lap and can be obtained by e-mailing Brett Deyo at Deyo99H@aol.com.
