FRIESEN JOINS GODOWN FOR DYNAMITE DUO CHALLENGE IN BPG RACING FREEDOM 76 AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 7, 2011 . . . The racer that has won just about every major dirt Modified event, Stewart Friesen, is teaming up with Ryan Godown who seems to be a factor in most of the events that he enters. The “dynamite duo” will take on a star studded field of dirt track racing talents shooting for victory in the BPG Racing Freedom 76 at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 17th. The race, considered the granddaddy of major short track dirt Modified events, will pay $20,000 plus lap money to the winner.
Friesen, was a third place finisher in the BPG Racing Freedom 76 last season. He will be driving the Abbi Electric No. 1F Teo entry owned by Godown. “This is the car that I have been running at another track on Friday nights,” said Godown who is a past winner of the rich Forrest Rogers Memorial Classic at Grandview. He is currently in the top ten in the NASCAR 358 Modified point standings at the Bechtelsville oval.
“We are excited to see how this works,” said the Ringoes, NJ racer. “Having Stew as a teammate is going to make for an interesting race. Now we just have to figure who will finish first and who will finish second.”
Canadian racer Friesen, who calls Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario home, won the prestigious Super Dirt Week SEF 200 at Syracuse, NY last year and would love to be able to add the also prestigious BPG Racing Freedom 76 to his impressive resume of outstanding accomplishments in dirt track Modified stock car racing.
The BPG Racing Freedom 76 will top off an evening of racing that will include a full series of qualifying events, the Schaefer Motorsports Minuteman 20 and the Mertz Flying Mullet Cash Dash. Warm-ups will start at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. Spectators having advance tickets will be able to enter the speedway at 4 p.m. with ticket offices opening at 4:30 p.m.
Friesen and Godown join an impressive list of outstanding racing talents already entered including Jimmy Horton, Billy Pauch Sr. & Jr., Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Craig VonDohren and others.
Admission for the 41st annual event will be $30 for adults, $10 for youngsters 6 through 11 and under 6 will be admitted FREE. Pit passes, no NASCAR license required, will cost $40.
Entry blanks for the race can be found at www.grandviewspeedway.com.
In the afternoon starting at 1 p.m. the annual Auto Glass Specialties BPG Racing Freedom Fan Fest will take place with games for kids, autograph opportunities, dunk tank, driver interviews, race cars on display and more. This afternoon of fun, put together by Pete Knappenberger, will continue until 4 p.m.
Grandview Speedway, in it’s 49th season of operation, is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown. Race information is available at www.grandviewspeedway.com where information on hotels in the area can be found. Track telephone number is 610.754.7688.
