VALLEY FORGE INC NIGHT. . . . . . . . .

DARYN PITTMAN LEADS WIRE-TO-WIRE TO WIN RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES CHALLENGE AT WILIAMS GROVE

Daryn Pittman of Owasso, OK won the 25 lap Rislone URC Sprint Series feature on Valley Forge INC Night at the Williams Grove Speedway Friday night. Pittman earned the pole starting position thanks to the passing points format. After starting twelfth in his heat, Pittman finished fourth, earning the most points in qualifying, thus earning the pole starting position in the feature event. Pittman led every lap of the feature but the battle of the race was for second as Chad Layton and Pat Cannon ran side-by-side for most of the race.

At the drop of the green flag in the Valley Forge INC feature event, Daryn Pittman immediately established himself as the man to beat, setting a blistering pace. Chad Layton and Pat Cannon quickly locked into a strong battle for second, swapping the runner-up spot numerous times during the race. Aaron Ott was on a charge to the front, racing in the top five by lap eight.

Up to the halfway point, the race remained caution-free and the top five were Pittman, Cannon, Layton, Dave Ely and Ott. The leaders were now reaching lapped traffic and the top three were racing under a blanket.

On lap nineteen, the smoking sprint car of Aaron Ott slowed on the backstretch and the first and only caution of the race was displayed.

On the restart, Pittman continued to set the pace and the thrilling battle for second continued between Layton and Cannon.

Lance Dewease, driving the Scott McClaren sprint car was on a charge to the front and was now racing in fifth with just five laps remaining.

With the checker flag waiving, Pittman took the win with Layton second, Pat Cannon third, Dave Ely fourth and Dewease fifth.

The Rislone URC Sprints will be in action on Saturday night at the Port Royal Speedway with a 7:30 PM starting time.
