THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES

Just A fact. . . . 95 Indianapolis 500's. . .. . 52 Daytona 500's. . . . 100 Thunder on the Hill Events!
THERE'S A TRAFFIC JAM AT GRANDVIEW ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 3RD, ADULT ADMISSION $20

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will present event #101 on Wednesday night, August 3rd when the TRAFFIC JAM for modifieds returns to Grandview Speedway. The Chad Sinon/BPG Motorsports sponsored event will pay a hefty $8,500 to the winner of the 60 lap modified feature sanctioned by the Race of Champions. Along with the modifieds, the ROC sportsman will also be on the program to compete in qualifying events all leading up to the 40 lap feature. The adult admission price for the show is just $20, children 6-11 $5 and kids under the age of six will be admitted for free. The pit fee is $30 and a license is not required. In the event of rain, Thursday night, August 4th will be the rain date.

The sportsman will be looking at some bonus money tanks to Joe Adams Lettering. The top five sportsman in the feature that were pre-entered will earn an additional $50. Drivers may pre-enter by calling 443 513 4456.

The inaugural TRAFFIC JAM took place in 1998 and Brett Hearn earned the center podium position in victory lane. The following year, Jimmy Horton was the winner with Frank Cozze taking the win in 2000 as Timmy McCreadie earned his first TRAFFIC JAM win in 2001. Brett Hearn was the first repeat winner in 2002 with DIRTcar standout Billy Decker winning the TRAFFIC JAM in 2003. Timmy McCreadie returned to the always joyous Grandview victory lane in 2004 with Tim Fuller winning the event in 2005, Alan Johnson in 2006, Brett Hearn in 2007 and Billy Decker again in 2008. Brett Hearn scored his fourth TRAFFIC JAM win in 2009 with VonDohren the winner in 2010.

One very special activity that takes place during the annual TRAFFIC JAM event is FAN FEST. Weather permitting, the track gate at the flag stand will swing open after the TRAFFIC JAM starting field is staged on the homestretch. With the starting field, spectators from the grandstands are invited to come on to the speedway and do a meet and greet with the TRAFFIC JAM drivers. Fans are encouraged to bring their camera's and even a program book to collect autographs and photos. Earlier in the night, race fans may also take part in the Inside/Out Promotion, allowing fans to watch the warm-ups from inside turn four. It's a great viewing location and you'll feel the ground vibrate when the modifieds power off turn four and charge down the homestretch.

The $8,500 winners share in the 60 lap TRAFFIC JAM will certainly bring out the best of the Grandview regulars to include Duane Howard, Craig VonDohren, Ryan Godown hot off that impressive ROC win at the Battle of Lincoln, Doug Manmiller, Rick Laubach, Billy Pauch and Kevin Hirthler. Expected invaders include Brett Hearn, Billy Decker, Danny Johnson and Stewart Friesen just to name a few.

This will be the richest TRAFFIC JAM payout in the fourteen year history of the event, a continued celebration of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series reaching their 100th event milestone in June of 2011.
