14TH ANNUAL MODIFIED TRAFFIC JAM SANCTIONED BY ROC SET FOR GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY WEDNESDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 3RD

The 14th Annual TRAFFIC JAM returns to the Grandview Speedway on Wednesday night, August 3rd for the fourth race of the 2011 NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. This event is rich in history and every TRAFFIC JAM has its' own special memory.

Last year, the story was all Craig VonDohren of Oley, PA taking the win after qualifying through the consolation and starting deep in the pack. VonDohren worked his way through traffic driving his small block modified against a field of big block modifieds. It was VonDohren's first TRAFFIC JAM victory and a very popular win as the crowd cheered on their local driver. The Wednesday night, August 3rd TRAFFIC JAM will be sanctioned by the Race of Champions (ROC) and will go a distance of 60 laps. The ROC Sportsman will be on the program as well. General admission for this event is $20 for adults, $5 for children 6-11 and kids under six will be admitted for free. The pit fee will be $30 and a license is not required. In the event of rain, Thursday night, August 4th will be the rain date. Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.

The inaugural TRAFFIC JAM took place in 1998 and Brett Hearn earned the center podium position in victory lane. The following year, Jimmy Horton was the winner with Frank Cozze taking the win in 2000 as Timmy McCreadie earned his first TRAFFIC JAM win in 2001. Brett Hearn was the first repeat winner in 2002 with DIRTcar standout Billy Decker winning the TRAFFIC JAM in 2003. Timmy McCreadie returned to the always joyous Grandview victory lane in 2004 with Tim Fuller winning the event in 2005, Alan Johnson in 2006, Brett Hearn in 2007 and Billy Decker again in 2008. Brett Hearn scored his fourth TRAFFIC JAM win in 2009 with VonDohren the winner in 2010.

The modifieds will qualify through a series of heat race events and a consolation all leading up to the $5,000 to win TRAFFIC JAM. The ROC sportsman will share the program also qualifying through heat race events, a consolation and a 40 lap feature event.

One very special activity that takes place during the annual TRAFFIC JAM event is FAN FEST. Weather permitting, the track gate at the flag stand will swing open after the TRAFFIC JAM starting field is staged on the homestretch. With the starting field, spectators from the grandstands are invited to come on to the speedway and do a meet and greet with the TRAFFIC JAM drivers. Fans are encouraged to bring their camera's and even a program book to collect autographs and photos. Earlier in the night, race fans may also take part in the Inside/Out Promotion, allowing fans to watch the warm-ups from inside turn four. It's a great viewing location and you'll feel the ground vibrate when the modifieds power off turn four and charge down the homestretch.
