Good Things Are Worth Waiting For: 'Anthracite Assault' Race of Champions Event July 26 at Big Diamond Speedway Gets Richer! Savage L&B Dodge Chrysler Jeep Signs On, $300 Green Money Set; $200 Halfway Leader Bonus Offered By Club Wago!
MINERSVILLE, PA - Some things are worth waiting for. The 'Anthracite Assault' Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour event at Big Diamond Speedway on Tuesday, July 26 has gotten richer.
Boasting recently attained sponsorship support from Savage L&B Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Robesonia, Pa., the 'Anthracite Assault' RoC Dirt Modified Tour 60-lap event offers $300 just to take the green flag! Prior to the event's weather-related postponement on June 22, the winner's share had been boosted from $4,000 to $5,000 thanks to Small Engine Fuels (SEF) and it's "gambler's fee" program. The Race of Champions has not visited the Schuylkill County oval since July 2006.

The RoC Dirt Sportsman (30 laps, $1,200 to win) and XCel 600 Modifieds (20 laps) complete the program. All divisions will run qualifying events.

"We wanted to race on the originally scheduled date as much as anyone else," said event co-promoter Brett Deyo of BD Motorsports Media. "Once the race fell to the weather, we got back to work trying to make this event more lucrative for the racers and memorable for the fans. With the support of our newest marketing partner, Savage L&B Dodge Chrysler Jeep and Small Engine Fuels (SEF), we are rewarding racers from first to last!"

Another new incentive has been put into place by Club Wago. The halfway leader of the RoC Modified event earns a minimum of $200 in memory of K-9 Deputy Kyle Pagerly of the Berks County Sherriff's Department, who was killed in the line of duty. The Club Wago group plans a fundraiser to benefit the Kyle Pagerly Memorial Fund.

The 'Anthracite Assault' is the only opportunity for big-block Modifieds to compete at Big Diamond in 2011. And, of course, the high sail panels will be bolted onto the big-block/small-block Mods for the anticipated event. Small-block Modifieds (under 361 c.i.) will be rewarded with the following incentives: first across the line on gasoline - $250 cash and first across the line on methanol - $250 cash. The top-finishing Big Diamond regular in a Friday-night-legal car earns a $150 product certificate from Hoffman Speed Supplies in New Tripoli, Pa.

All lap leaders receive a can of beer from Bert Jones' Beer City located in Quakertown, Pa.

The race winner earns a guaranteed starting berth in the New Egypt Speedway $15,000-to-win 'Friends of Mike' event on July 30. The 'Anthracite Assault' serves as a last-chance qualifier for the 'Friends of Mike' event.

Additionally, the RoC Mod victor receives two FREE pit passes to the March 2012 RoC 'Icebreaker V' at Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway.

An American Racer tire will be given away via a random draw courtesy of Lias Tire (Indiana, Pa.).

"Mining Modified Excitement" will be the night's theme as the rumble of race engines echoes through the Anthracite Region of Pennsylvania. The 'Coal Miner's Daughter' is set to be part of the night's festivities! Legendary Kenny Brightbill will be honored at the event and plans to be available for autographs. Brightbill merchandise will be on sale in the midway area.

The RoC Dirt Modified Tour last visited the Schuylkill County oval on July 25, 2006 with superstar Alan Johnson of Middlesex, N.Y., earning the victory. Other past RoC Modified winners include Billy Pauch Sr. of Frenchtown, N.J., (two wins) and Jeff Strunk of Bechtelsville, Pa. (one).

Crate engine Sportsman are permitted to run with the RoC Sportsman with a weight break. Visit the BD Motorsports Media website for details.

Grandstand admission for the 'Anthracite Assault' is set at $20 for Adults, $15 for Seniors/Military with ID, $5 for Kids 6-12 and FREE for those five and under. Pit admission is $30 with no license required. Complete race information, entry forms and rules have been posted online at
