SPRINTS, MODIFIEDS AND RUSSELL NEWBERRY MAKING FOR A GREAT NIGHT OF ENTERTAINMENT AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 3, 2011 .. . The URC Sprint cars, the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Russell Newberry will create what should be one of the biggest events of the season at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, June 11th. Newberry, a star of TV’s "The Deadliest Catch," will be a special guest at the BPG Racing sponsored night of racing excitement with the green flag falling at 7:30 p.m.
Newberry will join with 11 year-old Kirsten Sowers of Blue Bell, PA as they continue to raise funds for troops and remember 9/11. Young Sowers has performed at many popular events and will sing the National Anthem. She currently plays, writes and sings country music. Her Kirsten Kares Foundation is a big fund raiser for troops and schools in need.
Newberry, who will be heading home to Alaska shortly after the Grandview appearance, is looking forward to being the honorary starter for the night, meet fans and sign autographs along with Kirsten. In addition, as part of their fund raising efforts, they will be raffling off sports items. Already included in the sports items to be raffled off is football signed by Philadelphia Eagles player Stewart Bradley.
The doubleheader show of URC sprints and NASCAR 358 modifieds always proves to be popular with fans and brings out a large turnout of racers and fans.
“Sprint car racing at Grandview creates the kind of excitement that makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck,” said track owner Bruce Rogers. “Add to that the competitive contact sport type action of the 358 Modifieds and you have the makings of quite a night of racing excitement. And it will be exciting to have Russell Newberry with us to bring something special to the evening.”
Topping the racing part of the show will be a 30-lap feature for the modifieds and a 25-lap main event for the sprint car racers.
Adult admission for this special event will be just $20 while youngsters 6 thru 11 are admitted for $5 and children under 6 get in FREE. Members of the military, in uniform and with ID, are always admitted FREE.
Adding even more excitement is the fact that RCN-TV will be taping all the action for broadcast later in the week.
Grandview Speedway, considered one of the most successful NASCAR sanctioned short tracks in the nation, is a one-third-mile, banked clay oval located at 43 Passmore Road in Bechtelsville, PA just a short distance off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
