Grandview Speedway 2011. . . . . .

NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES TO REACH 100TH EVENT MILESTONE ON TUESDAY, JUNE 28, ADULT ADMISSION JUST $20

Who would have thought we would reach 100 ?

The first Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event took place in 1990 at the Grandview Speedway, and without a doubt, the show was wildly successful. A sellout crowd filled the Grandview Speedway to watch Stevie Smith take the very first checker flag in an event, that soon turned into a series. The transition from a race to a series evolved and grew in popularity, mainly as a result of offering unique and different novelty type racing event. Thunder on the Hill made its name by being anything but the same old show, changing over time to provide race fans something new and different to enjoy.

The Series reached outside the circle of what race fans could see on a regular Saturday night program, bringing together combinations of 410 sprints and modifieds, luring the CRA (California Racing Association) Sprints to Grandview along with the SCRA Sprints, WoO Sprints, All Star Sprints, DIRT Modifieds, USAC Wingless Sprints, URC Sprints, ARDC Midgets, WoO Late Models, ROC Modifieds and Sportsman, 358 Sprints and a host of other support classes. To make one event even more unique is when Thunder on the Hill introduced the Features Only format, brining five premier divisions together, at one track on the same night, running just a five feature events on one racing program without the qualifying.

The fans remain the key ingredient to the success of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. A twenty-two year tradition still stands with the always chilling feature parade lap fireworks display, the Inside/Out Promotion where fans can watch a warm-up session from the infield, the Rhyme Time Competition where fans can write a rhyme about their favorite or, not so favorite drivers. Joe the Pizza Dude adds a touch of fun, the live singing of the National Anthem, number give aways items and of course, race fans are always welcome to join in with the always joyous victory lane celebrations.

On Tuesday night, June 28, the Bruce Rogers/Bob Miller NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will reach a milestone, as the 100th Thunder Series event unfolds at the Grandview Speedway. To celebrate this night, it's only fitting that the 410 sprints and the 358 Modifieds be the showcase divisions that will offer a very attractive $20 adult general admission.

The 410 sprints will duke it out for 35 laps in chase of a $5,000 first place prize as the 358 modifieds battle for 25 laps paying $2,500 to win and $255 just to take the green in the feature event. The modified event is open to all competitors and the weekly Grandview rules will apply.

Adult admission prices are $20, Children 6-11 are $5 and children under the age of six will be admitted for free. The pit fee for this event will be just $25.
