TV’S RUSSELL NEWBERRY WILL BE PART OF BPG RACING URC SPRINT/NASCAR 358 MODIFIED SHOW AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 20, 2011 . . . One of the most popular events of the season at Grandview Speedway is going to become even more of a fan pleaser with the appearance of Russell Newberry, a star of TV’s “The Deadliest Catch,” as a special guest at the BPG Racing sponsored United Racing Company sprint car and NASCAR 358 Modified doubleheader on Saturday, June 11th.
Newberry will join with 11 year-old Kirsten Sowers of Blue Bell, PA as they continue to raise funds for troops and remember 9/11. Young Sowers has performed at many popular events and will sing the National Anthem. She currently plays, writes and sings country music. Her Kirsten Kares Foundation is a big fund raiser for troops and schools in need.
Newberry, who will be heading home to Alaska shortly after the Grandview appearance, is looking forward to being the honorary starter for the night, meet fans and sign autographs along with Kirsten. In addition, as part of their fund raising efforts, they will be raffling off sports items. Already included in the sports items to be raffled off is football signed by Philadelphia Eagles player Stewart Bradley. Other items will be added as June 11th draws nearer.
The doubleheader show of URC sprints and NASCAR 358 modifieds always proves to be popular with fans and brings out a large turnout of racers and fans.
Topping the racing part of the show will be a 30-lap feature for the modifieds and a 25-lap main event for the sprint car racers.
Adding even more excitement is the fact that RCN-TV will be taping all the action for broadcast later in the week.
Grandview Speedway, considered one of the most successful NASCAR sanctioned short tracks in the nation, is a one-third-mile, banked clay oval located at 43 Passmore Road in Bechtelsville, PA just a short distance off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
