AMSOIL USAC EASTERN STORM

Tuesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 2. . . . . . . .
THE USAC "EASTERN STORM" IS HEADING OUR WAY. . . .  . . . . .

There is a storm heading our way.

Without a doubt, one of the most anticipated racing shows of the season is the fifth annual return of the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Tour.   Two tracks on the popular tour include the Grandview Speedway with an event on Tuesday night, May 31 followed by a visit to the New Egypt Speedway on Thursday night, June 1.  The nationally known stars of USAC will head east with a big following of competitors as they chase the nightly  winner's share of $6,000.

If you have never seen  a wingless sprint car race, it's as extreme as you can get and still have four wheels on the ground.  Although most times, the USAC sprints are two-wheeling it around the track.     I've always wondered, how can they steer the car that way?

There is no doubt that the wingless sprints trade off some speed but at the same time, they  build in some of the most incredible side-by-side racing you'll see anywhere.     There is wheel-banging and wild slide jobs and that's just the norm when the USAC wingless sprint cars hit the race track.   At facilities like Grandview Speedway and New Egypt, the track size and configuration just make the show that much better.   Many race fans will tell you that watching the USAC wingless sprints time trial at Grandview is worth the price of admission itself.     At New Egypt, the USAC stars thrilled the race fans last year as they backed their cars into the turn, being nearly sideways all the way through the corners.

This kind of racing is not for the faint at heart as you'll find yourself moving to the edge of your seat when the green flag falls.  It's intense as a spectator, and downright crazy from a drivers view point.

The drivers of USAC are nationally known  and many have ventured on to even higher levels of auto racing.   Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne are just two graduates of the USAC wingless sprint tour.   The Grandview event will also mark a special night, with this event dedicated in tribute to one of the all time greats, with the 2nd Annual   Jesse "The Rocket" Hockett Classic.   Hockett, winner of two of the four previous USAC shows on the hill at Grandview, was killed in a garage accident in May of 2010.

Casey Shuman, Tempe, AZ,  Chris Windom, Canton, IL,   Bryan Clauson,  Noblesville, IN,   Keith Bloom Jr, Anderson, CA,   Hunter Schuerenberg, Sikeston, MO,   Levi Jones, Olney, IL,    Damion Gardner, Concord, CA, and the "Modern Day Cowboy"  Daron Clayton of Sikeston, MO are just some of the USAC stars heading east.  At last count, as many as twenty-five drivers are looking to take part in the USAC Eastern Storm Series.

In the four previous USAC Eastern Storm events at Grandview, Levi Jones won the opener in 2007, the late Jesse Hockett won the next two events as  Levi Jones returned to Grandview in 2010 to win the first annual Jesse Hockett Classic.   Also on the program at Grandview Speedway on Tuesday, May 31 with the AMSOIL USAC Wingless Sprints will be the ARDC Wingless Midgets, making this show a "must see"  open wheel double-header that will get underway at 7:30 PM.   For more information, visit our website at: www.thunderonthehillracingseries.com

Back by popular demand, the USAC Eastern Storm will once again return to New Jersey, with a stop at the beautiful and fan friendly New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ on Thursday night,  June 2.   In 2010, it was USAC's first visit to the state of New Jersey in thirty-two years and the great show makes it well worth the wait.   This unique shaped race track provided some of the most dramatic side-by-side racing of the series and at the end of the night, it was Levi Jones standing in victory lane.   The Big Block Modifieds will share the program  again in 2011.  Duane Howard and his BPG Modified were the class of modified field in 2010 and they'll be back chasing the $3,000 to win first place prize on Thursday night, June 2nd.     More information is available at:  www.newegyptspeedway.net

A $6,000 payday will go to the winner of each feature and  a very lucrative total payoff  plus a  point fund for the USAC Eastern Storm competitors will lure some of the top drivers in the business.   They only come east one time a year so make plans to see these two events on Tuesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 2nd.
