RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES 2011
RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES UNDERWAY FOR 2011
The 64th season of the Rislone URC Sprint Series is officially underway after a successful opener Saturday night at the Bridgeport Speedway. The teams of URC are now preparing for their first visit of the season to the Delaware International Speedway on Saturday night, April 16. This event will mark the first race of the Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series, a mini-point series within the season long Rislone tour. Daryn Pittman invaded Bridgeport and dominated the twenty-five lap URC sprint feature as all eyes were on drivers like Ed Aikin and Becca Anderson, two drivers who had the best shot of defeating the professional racer out of Owasso, MO
Ed Aikin returned to the URC wars this year and was an immediate threat for the victory until mechanical problems took him out of the hunt, turning the lead over to the talented Pittman who was driving the Mike Heffner owned sprint car. Becca Anderson, the lady racer from Houston, DE made several attempts to reel in Pittman, but a pair of caution flags just fell at the wrong time, allowing Pittman to keep a solid hold on the top spot.
Anderson, driving the Dave Betts owned sprinter rallied home an impressive second and she was all smiles during the post race interviews.
This Saturday night, Anderson will be heading to her home track where she has a strong following of local fans to cheer her on. Anderson is well aware that Daryn Pittman will again be in the field. Former Champion JJ Grasso, defending Champion Curt Michael along with Dave Ely, Eddie Wagner, Kramer Williamson, Jonathan Swanson and Robbie Stillwaggon will be in the field at Delaware International Saturday night. Race time is 7 PM.
