Jeff Strunk Will Be At The Ready When Penn Can Speedway Makes History With June 7 'Clash at the Can' Event; $8,000 Payday Awaiting 60-lap Race of Champions Victor

SUSQUEHANNA, PA – When history is made at Penn Can Speedway Tuesday night, June 7, Jeff Strunk will be among the contenders.
Strunk, 42, of Bechtelsville, Pa., has set plans to attend the $8,000-to-win 'Clash at the Can' event at Penn Can: the highest payday in the history of the Susquehanna, Pa., oval. The big-block/small-block Modified event - sanctioned by the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour - will be 60 action-packed feature laps on the racy, tire-wear-friendly one-third-mile track centrally located on the Keystone State side of the New York/Pennsylvania border.
Co-promoted by Penn Can's management team of Reed Miller and Al Wilcox and Brett Deyo of BD Motorsports Media, the 'Clash at the Can' has taken the Southern Tier racing community by storm, while turning heads throughout the Modified community. Calls have been received by race promoters from racers as far north as Ontario and south as Delaware.
Strunk, a Pennsy small-block leader on the Big Diamond/Grandview circuit, is a past Penn Can winner. He would love to add the 'Clash' to his extensive resume.
"It has always been a good competitive racetrack," Strunk said of Penn Can. "You can't beat the racing there. You've got to be up on the wheel, from the first lap to the last lap. A race like this (the 'Clash at the Can') raises the bar for the whole area. It's definitely a race I have marked on my calendar."
Last year, the first edition of the 'Clash at the Can' was a study in diversity, with Penn Can regular Brett Tonkin, New York superstar Danny Johnson, Pennsy racer Duane Howard and Canadian Stewart Friesen in the mix. After an extended side-by-side battle with Tonkin, Howard emerged the victor driving the BPG Racing No. 4 Troyer.
Strunk has proven his worth already in 2011 outside of his home tracks, winning RoC events at Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway (March 18) and New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway (March 26) in his first season driving for veteran Royersford, Pa., team owner Norm Hansell.
For drivers following the entire 13-race RoC tour, the 'Clash at the Can' holds added significance. The event offers championship points toward the overall crown.
The 'Clash at the Can' race winner earns a guaranteed starting position - a $500 value - in the New Egypt Friends of Mike special July 30.
Additionally, the event serves as Round No. 1 of the four-race VP Racing Fuels Short Track Four Crown presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. which also includes the 'Hot Summer Night' at Penn Can (Aug. 9), fourth edition of the Short Track SuperNationals at Five Mile Point (N.Y.) Speedway (Oct. 8) and Penn Can 'King of the Can' (Oct. 16).
Drivers attending all four Short Track Four Crown events will be eligible for contingency prizes at year end. Points will be kept during the year with an overall champion announced following the ‘King of the Can’ 50-lapper. The growing list of contingency award sponsors can be found on the BD Motorsports Media website: www.bdmotorsportsmedia.com.
