KUTZTOWN BUMPS PURSE & ADDS MARKETING PARTNERS AS NEW SEASON DRAWS NEAR
Kutztown, Pa. - April 13 - With the 2011 racing season less than four weeks away, Kutztown Fair Speedway race organizers Kerry Meitzler and Janelle Stump continue to iron out a few remaining details and release some big news regarding the Wednesday night events at the one-fifth mile oval.
The May 11 opener will again be a tribute to the matriarch of the Meitzler family, as the Goldie Meitzler Memorial Race is presented for the 270cc Micro-Sprints, the wingless 600cc Micros, All Star Slingshots, and the Xcel Sportsman Modifieds. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with warm-ups getting underway at 6:30 and the first heat race of the new campaign gets the green flag at 7:00.
Meitzler and Stump are enticing the race teams to encourage other racers to enter the events at the Fairgrounds this year, as the weekly purse will increase - significantly - as the car count rises in each division.
And the payoff will not just jump for the feature winner or those who finish in the top three, but it will grow for positions one through eighteen if the number of entries (per class) exceeds 25. The purse increases even more if the car count reaches 36 or more in any of the four weekly classes.
The promotional team at Kutztown has also signed up an array of marketing partners, and they continue to seek additional partners to support the Wild Wednesday events at the Fairgrounds, as well as the popular Kutztown Fair Week Races set for Tuesday through Thursday, August 16-18.
WIX Filters 100 Nights of Racing will make the Kutztown Fair Speedway one of its 100 special events this season by sponsoring the races on June 1st. WIX Filters Racing prizes and giveaways for both racers and fans will highlight the program on Wednesday, June 1st.
RockAuto.com, an online auto parts business based in Wisconsin, will be an associate marketing partner at the Berks County oval in 2011. RockAuto.com wristbands will be wrapped around the wrists of everyone entering the Fairgrounds' pit area this year.
Following the Goldie Meitzler Memorial Race that kicks off the new season, the Racers Roundtable Radio Show will sponsor the second event on May 18. The show's originator and one of its hosts, Pete Knappenberger, is set to compete in the All Star Slingshot class this year and will certainly provide all sorts of entertainment as Racers Roundtable takes over the May 18 program at Kutztown.
The schedule for the aforementioned Kutztown Fair Week has been finalized. Tuesday, August 16 will find the 270cc and wingless 600cc Micro-Sprints taking part in night one of the Fair Week Nationals, with the emphasis on qualifying for Wednesday evening's main events.
On Tuesday, the mighty Micros will race against the clock in time trials that will set the starting line-ups for the first set of heat races. A dual heat format will be utilized, with points awarded for finishing positions and number of cars passed.
Also on the Tuesday night card at the annual Kutztown Fair will be the final point race of the season for the All Star Slingshots, along with the Kutztown Challenge. The Challenge is a series of one-on-one match races for the top ten drivers in the track's Slingshot point standings, and it will be sponsored by RPM New & Used Slinger Parts.
Wednesday, August 17, is the season finale for both classes of Micro-Sprints. It is also the final night of the Fair Week Nationals for the 270cc and wingless 600cc Micros, with last-chance races and 30-lap A-Mains for each division. Each A-Main will pay a minimum of $1,000 to the winner.
The Xcel 600 Modified Tour makes its only 2011 appearance at Kutztown on Thursday, August 18. The fast and furious Xcel Mods will be joined by the Xcel Sportsman Modifieds and Outlaw Quads, and there will be a special Celebrity Modified and Late Model Match Race. The Celebrity Race will pit several of the top names from Grandview and Big Diamond speedways against one another in Xcel 600 Modifieds.
The Atlantic Coast Old Timers will be in attendance all three nights during the Fair Week events, and the Fair Week Nationals will once again be held in memory of long-time track photographer, the late Bill Hess.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for both weekly races and the Fair Week events. For additional information on marketing partnership opportunities at Kutztown Fair Speedway, contact Kerry Meitzler at 610-683-8234 or Janelle Stump at racektown@aol.com.
