PLAN TO ATTEND THE BATTLE OF THE NORTH AND SOUTH, TUESDAY, JULY 12, ROC MODIFIEDS MAKE FIRST APPEARANCE AT LINCOLN SPEEDWAY,
DOUG MANMILLER ANXIOUS TO VISIT THE PIGEON HILLS. . . . . . .
The Pigeon Hills of Central Pennsylvania may never be the save after Tuesday night, July 12. For the first time ever, the ROC (Race of Champions) Modifieds will invade the three-eighth mile Lincoln Speedway for a spectacular double-header with the 360/358 Sprint Cars. Doug Manmiller, the 2010 Big Diamond Track Champion and 2007 & '08 Thunder on the Hill Series Champion is excited about the July visit to Lincoln. "It's just a great place with multi-grooves and should produce a great race", commented Mamiller who enjoys much success with the Thunder Series. Manmiller is a four time Thunder on the Hill feature winner and trails Jeff Strunk (6 wins), Brett Hearn and Craig VonDohren (each with 5 wins) on the Thunder Series career win list. "The sprints put on a great show and I can't wait to get my modified on that track", added Manmiller.
PPB (Pioneer Pole Buildings, Inc) is the title event sponsor of his historic event that will mark the first visit by the big block modifieds in twenty-five years. Not only have the names changed, but the speedway has gone through some changes, making it a totally different track then it was bay in 1986 when Barry Burkhart of Reading, PA won the last modified race at Lincoln. To make this show even bigger and to attract the many sprint car fans in the area, MACH 1 Chassis Inc is sponsoring the 360/358 Sprint Car Shoot out on the same night. Along with PPB and MACH 1 Chassis, NAPA Auto Parts will waive their flags and banners on race night.
This is an absolutely spectacular event, with two premier divisions and roster of talent in both divisions that will knock your socks off.
In the MACH 1 Chassis Inc Sprints, we already have twenty-nine drivers pre-entered in chase of the $3,000 first place prize in the 25 lap feature event. Pre-entered sprint drivers include Mark Smith, Daryn Pittman, Pat Cannon, Brian Montieth, Blane Heimbach, Dave Ely, Adrian Shaffer, Justin Collett, Keith Prutzman, Kramer Williamson, Cory Haas and Aaron Ott just to name a few.
There is a long list of heavy hitters in the Modified ranks including Duane Howard, Doug Manmiller, Steward Friesen, Jeff Strunk, Rick Laubach, Kevin Hirthler, Bobby Varin, Gary Tomkins, Jimmy Horton, Billy Pauch, Ryan Godown and Danny Johnson just to name a few.
Both the PPB ROC Modifieds and the MACH1 Chassis 360/3658 Sprints will compete in qualifying events leading up to the $5,000 to win 60 lap ROC Modified Feature and the 25 lap MACH1 Chassis 358/360 Sprint feature. Time trials will not be on this program and the first of the qualifying heat race events will take the green flag at 7:30 PM.
Some of the "all time" great drivers in Lincoln Speedway history will take part in a pre-race autograph session and include Smokey Snellbaker, Van May and Lynn Paxton. Barry Burkhart, winner of the last two modified events at Lincoln in 1986 will also be present for his history making event.
The three-eighth mile Lincoln Speedway offers it all, the high speeds that you would see at the "big tracks" with the flair and excitement of the short track "bull rings". At Lincoln Speedway, you'll have it all.
