Management has prepared for the wet Saturday forecast by sealing the track to take the expected precipitation. Sunday's weather is calling for perfect conditions to finally open the race season in Coal Country.
A 35-lap, $3,000-to-win headliner for The Station House 358-Modifieds headlines the program, joined by the U.S.S. Achey Sportsman (20 laps) and Wooden Keg Tavern Roadrunners (20 laps). All divisions kick off their year-long championship battles at the opener.
All divisions will draw for heat-race starting positions at the opener. Feature starting orders will be heads-up. For Sunday's event ONLY, 358-Modified and Sportsman race teams may use American Racer tires with any track stamp, so long as the tread pattern and compounds match the Big Diamond rule book (found online at www.bigdiamondspeedway.net). Starting with the first Friday program of the season on April 29, all tires must have the Big Diamond/Grandview BGP stamp.
Gates will open at 2 p.m., with hot laps at 4:35 p.m. and racing at 5 p.m. Special event admission for the April 17 opener is $15 for Adults, $12 for Seniors and Military (with proof of ID), $5 for Kids (ages 6-12) and FREE for children six years of age and younger. Pit admission is $25 for members and $35 for non-members.
All-new Big Diamond Speedway apparel will be on sale on the midway, including T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts and hooded sweatshirts.
