AMERICAN RACER CUP BEGINS THIS WEEKEND

American Racer Cup Begins This Friday Night at Accord Speedway.   Huge Point Fund
and Contingencies Await 2011 American Racer ECM Drivers.

BINGHAMTON, NYThe 2011 American Racer Cup officially gets underway this weekend with eight of the twelve participating Modified facilities gearing up for a big weekend of racing.  This year’s version of the American Racer East Coast Modified Cup has seen a huge increase of contingency and bonus awards for the teams involved.  Accord Speedway will have the distinction of hosting the first point race this Friday evening.

Entering the new season of the American Racer ECM Cup a number of great additions in sponsorship have been added to the program.  This year the top 50 teams in the overall standings will receive cash and/or product awards at the conclusion of the season long point run.  Over $140,000 in cash and product will be up for grabs in 2011.  The American Racer East Coast Modified Cup is certainly overflowing with bonuses this season!

New sponsors for the ECM include:  Troyer Race Cars, VP Racing Fuels, Weld Racing Wheels, Beyea Custom Headers, Diversified Machine Inc., Ultra Shield Race Products, Kirkey Racing Fabrication and Sunoco Race Fuels.  They join Lias Tire along with Dart Machinery and the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour who were all involved in making the 2010 version such a success.  A complete breakdown of new bonuses and awards are listed below.

Last year’s American Racer ECM Cup saw Grandview Speedway/Big Diamond Speedway stars Duane Howard and Craig VonDohren battling with Five Mile Point Speedway/Utica Rome Champion Stewart Friesen for the overall cup title.  It came down to the very last weekend of the ECM Cup as the Grandview Speedway and Five Mile Point Speedway Modified features took to the track only minutes apart from each other.  Friesen won at Five Mile Point Speedway that evening only to pull in to victory lane and learn that Duane Howard had indeed locked up the first ever American Racer Cup title minutes earlier at Grandview Speedway.

The competition will even be greater this year with the addition of both Brewerton and Fulton Speedway’s to the program.  Certainly the announcement of the 2011 champion will again come down to the weekend of September 4th, the final weekend to log points.  Of the twelve participating facilities the following are set to have Modified action on the ECM Cup trail this weekend:  Accord Speedway, Big Diamond Speedway, Brewerton Speedway, Delaware International, Five Mile Point Speedway, Fonda Speedway, Grandview Speedway and New Egypt Speedway.  Fulton, Penn Can, Utica Rome Speedway’s and Woodhull Raceway will not be hosting Modified competition this upcoming weekend.

Once again this season ECM Cup Members can count on the same weekly track bonuses as last year.  Each participating facility will give away ten randomly selected American Racer tires among their membership, twenty-three tires will be given away to the top five in final track points at the conclusion of the ECM Cup and over $25,000 cash is posted among the overall drivers along with the opportunity of the $20,000 bonus if a driver can win the ECM Cup along with the Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour title.
