FIRST BIG EVENT OF THE SEASON AT GRANDVIEW SET FOR APRIL 9
Modified and Late Model payoffs increased for regular events
BECHTELSVILLE, PA April 3, 2011 . . . With $4,000 going to the winner of the NASCAR 358 Modified 40-lap feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 9 the race will be getting a lot of extra attention from both racers and fans.
This will be the first big event of the season and will be part of a doubleheader show that includes the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and the Late Models.
Both divisions will run a full slate of qualifying events with the top finishers moving on to the features. The NASCAR 358 Modified 40-lapper will start 28 cars while the 20-lap feature for Late Models will have 24 cars taking the green.
“For many of the racers this will be the real start of the season. This an event that will see the cream of the crop, the best talents, rising to the top,” said track promoter Bruce Rogers. “For some this could be a strong indication of what the new season holds for them. Money, big money, has a way of getting the best out of the racers.”
Keeping that thought in mind Rogers has announced that the regular season Saturday night features, 30 laps for Modifieds and 20 laps for Late Models, will have a purse increase. The NASCAR 358 Modifieds will now race for $2500 to win while the Late Models will be shooting for $800 to win.
The announcement created a lot of chatter amongst the racers and could very well see the field of entries for the regular Saturday night events increase during the 2011 season.
Fresh from the opening night racing action that saw Duane Howard win the NASCAR 358 Modified feature with Ryan Godown, Craig VonDohren and Jeff Strunk finishing close behind, that could be a strong indication of what fans can expect this Saturday night when the $4000 to win is up for grabs.
However Kevin Hirthler was a factor early in the opening night feature as was Terry Meitzler. Meme DeSantis just missed out on the top five so those three have to be considered threats for the win on Saturday night.
With 49 cars trying for 28 regular starting spots on opening night it surely looks like it will be a stellar season for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and a $4,000 to win special event like the one on Saturday may even see a stronger field on hand to try for a starting spot.
Chuck Schutz will be looking for his second straight win on Saturday night in the Late Model division as he shoots for another NASCAR Late Model title at Grandview Speedway.
Adult admission for the April 9th doubleheader will be $20 while youngsters 6 thru 11 pay just $5 and kids under 6 are admitted FREE. There is free parking on the grounds of the speedway. Military in uniform with proper ID are admitted Free.
Coming up at Grandview Speedway will be the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Models each Saturday night throughout the month of April with gates open at 5 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. Sidewinders will be added to the April 23rd show and the Saturday, April 30th show will be sponsored by Auto Locator magazine.
