49TH SEASON OF RACING KICKS OFF AT GRANDVIEW ON SATURDAY, APRIL 2

BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 27, 2010 . . . With the annual practice day out of the way all attention turns to the season opening doubleheader show of NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Model stock cars set for Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 2nd at 7 p.m.
With a large turnout, despite bone chilling cold weather, for the practice day all indications are that the 2011 season is going to be a great one as Grandview Speedway kicks off its 49th consecutive season of stock car racing.
Included in the opening night racing action will be a full series of qualifying events leading up to a 30-lap main event for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and a 20-lap feature for the Late Models.
Keith Gerhart, who has performed the National Anthem at a number of sporting events, will kick off the season with his stirring presentation of the Star Spangled Banner.
Admission for the Saturday night show, and all regular events throughout the season, will be $14 for adults, $5 for young people 6 thru 11 while kids under 6 will be admitted FREE. Members of the military in uniform and with proper ID are admitted FREE. And there is FREE parking on the speedway grounds.
Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m. while pit gates will be open at 3 p.m.
Duane Howard, coming off a spectacular 2010 season, will be shooting for his second straight NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified crown. Eight time track champion Jeff Strunk, already a winner in two early season events with his new car owner Norm Hansell, looks ready to get back to victory lane and make a run for his ninth track title. In the Late Model division last year’s champion Brian Shuey will not be defending his championship so that leaves the door open for any of the outstanding talents in that division to grab the title.
Coming up on Sunday, April 3rd at noon is the first of a series of NEETS Enduro events. Also included in the season opener will be the Outlaw Slingers (Slingshots) and Vintage Mods (made up of Vintage stock cars from the GSVCC and NOTARC organizations). Pit area will open at 8 a.m. Practice starts at noon and racing will get the green at 1 p.m. Admission will be $10.
A 40-lap feature for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds will be the highlight of the Saturday, April 9th show which will also feature the excitement of Late Model stock cars. A full series of qualifying events will lead up to the feature races in both divisions. Racing starts at 7 p.m. with spectator gates open at 5 p.m.
Grandview Speedway, a NASCAR sanctioned one-third-mile, banked clay track, is located at 43 Passmore Road, Bechtelsville, PA, just off Route 100, 10 miles north of Pottstown.
