Giving Back To Racers: Contingency Sponsors Signing On For VP Racing Fuels-Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. Short Track Four Crown; Historic 'Clash at the Can' Paying $8,000 to win June 7 at Penn Can Speedway Kicks Off Series
BOYERTOWN, PA - Giving back to the racers.
The goal remains forefront for the 2011 edition of the VP Racing Fuels Short Track Four Crown presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. With a growing number of contingency sponsors signing on for the four-race series contested at Penn Can Speedway (Susquehanna, Pa.) and Five Mile Point Speedway (Kirkwood, N.Y.), racers will benefit directly from their support of the high-profile events.
"We're a series that relies on weekly racers," said Brett Deyo, who promotes the Four Crown Series through the support of Reed Miller and Al Wilcox (Penn Can) and Andrew Harpell (Five Mile Point). "It's our goal to reward their loyalty with respectable payouts and a strong contingency award program. We're making history this year with our pay structure and, with the support of the racing business community, we have an expanding base of awards to distribute."
VP Racing Fuels Short Track Four Crown presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings Inc. contingency award sponsors signed thus far include:
BFP Specialty (Bethel, Pa.) - Owner Jason Bashore has pledged $1,000 in product certificates for the Four Crown. $250 will be distributed at each event.
S&D Bodyline (Bath, Pa.) - Returning for a second year, S&D's Don Biegley will award a FREE outer body kit (no sale or discounts available) to include right and left doors, quarters, A-pillars and B-pillars. The body will be awarded to a driver attending all four events via a random draw. Kevin Albert Jr. won the body giveaway last year.
J&L Speed Supplies (Hellertown, Pa.) - A first-year contingency participant, J&L owner Harry Landis has donated three $50 gift certificates, $150 total value, for Bicknell Racing Products parts at his second-year business.
Shiley Fabrication (Williamstown, Pa.) - New to the Short Track Four Crown, Gary Shiley has pledged his support in a big way. Shiley has agreed to back a 'Hard Luck Award' gift package, selected each night by race officials, for all four events that will include the following: front bumper, rear bumper and left and right-side nerf bars.
In addition to the four Hard Luck Awards, Shiley has also put together another package that will be awarded to a driver at the completion of the Short Track Four Crown that entered all four events (via a random draw). The package includes: front bumper, rear bumper, left and right-side nerf bars, left and right inner jig set, left and right door mount, left and right quarter mount, front and rear roof mount, left and right side roof mount, left and right nose mount, left and rear quarter mount & rear deck mount (if for Teo).
Diversified Machine Inc. (DMI - Lancaster, Pa.) - For the second consecutive season, DMI will present $250 in product certificates to be distributed to drivers during the Four Crown.
Additional product support is being sought and will be announced in the coming weeks.
"Everything we get goes back to the racers," Deyo said. "We're always looking for new contingency sponsors and provide an attractive publicity package for those supporting the series."
The Short Track Four Crown kicks off Tuesday, June 7 at Penn Can with the 'Clash at the Can' event paying $8,000 to the winner for 60 laps - the most lucrative payday in the speedway's history. Other Penn Can Short Track Four Crown events include the 'Hot Summer Night' paying $5,000 to the winner for 60 laps Tuesday, Aug. 9 and the famed King of the Can offering a $5,000 winner's share for 50 laps in October.
The "Working Man's Race" Short Track SuperNationals is set for its fourth running at the historic Five Mile Point Speedway on Oct. 8. The SuperNationals has attrached 72 and 70 Modifieds, respectively, in its last two runnings.
The 'Clash at the Can' and 'Hot Summer Night' events offer points toward the 2011 Race of Champions Dirt Modified Tour title fight. The final two Short Track Four Crown events run unsanctioned.
2010 BD Motorsports Media event winners were Duane Howard (Clash at the Can), Stewart Friesen (Hot Summer Night) and Justin Holland (Short Track SuperNationals).
