The long amount of planning and scheduling, the many phone calls, the coordinated efforts of a well schooled events team and the heart-warming response from car owners and drivers brought the jam packed Phillipsburg Mall opening day crowd to a pitched fever as the 4th Annual IRCO Dirt Track Heroes Show presented by NAPA Auto Parts of the Delaware Valley opened today for its seven day run at the Phillipsburg Mall located in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. 141 cars from all divisions or series of the motorsports world filled the Mall space as the many fans of racing came out to get their first glimpse of the cars they will seeing doing battle throughout the summer at one of the local racing venues in the Tri State Area.
The IRCO Community Federal Credit Union took center stage as the home-based company located in Phillipsburg, New Jersey greeted the large throngs of racing fans who came out to enjoy the opening day ceremonies that were highlighted by a taping of the award winning and popular CARQUEST Gasoline Alley TV/Internet show. Broadcasting personalities Ed and Steve Pados, along with assistance from Bobby Stull and Justin Beltrame, kicked off the day's event by first talking to Greg Collins, the Vice President of the IRCO Group, who is also well noted as the official Harmony Speedway Historian and Collins explained the significance of the history of the tie in of the popular show to the IRCO Group that has been very rewarding for the entire racing community. The hard-working promotional of Bob and Donna Miller followed to share their thoughts to the vast amount of the time and planning it requires to do a multi-faceted and quality show that relies heavily upon the support of the racers themselves to attain the record setting numbers that have been accomplished with this year's edition of the show.
"The participation from race teams in this event was outstanding and ranks second to just one previous show, that being the 2000 Reading Racing Reunion & Car Show when we placed 153 cars in the Fairgrounds Square Mall", announced show organizer Bob Miller as he greeted the huge crowd at the official opening of the show. "The growth of this event in just four years is amazing and a credit to all participants who are actively working to promote the coming 2011 racing season", added Miller.
The Pados Brothers proceeded with the taping of their show and many of the familiar star figures of past racing wars took part in the interviews sessions that carried on until 4:30 PM. Among the many legendary driving talents on hand to interview for the show and who also thrilled us many times with their daring on the speedways included Bill Wilson, Tommy Hager, Tighe Scott, Del Buss, Sammy Beavers, Richie Yetter, Bobby Rossell, Ray Liss, George Wambold, Red Coffin, Joe Poliacik, Billy Tanzosh, Jack Zeiner, Ward and Dottie Crozier, Richie Smith, and noted Photographer Ace Lane Jr. "The Communicator" Matthew Gaughan also interviewed during the program as the Slingshot convert will take his competitive ride in 2011 aboard the KG Communications sponsored number 42 Legends car on display at the Mall. All historical racing groups including Reading, Flemington, Harmony, Dorney Park and Nazareth have their vast memorabilia collections on display and their scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake of past glory or racing exploits

The week-long event will set aside one evening to salute the "Stars of Tomorrow" with a special Tuesday night edition set aside for the budding young racing talents competing with the many quarter midget clubs in the area.
