DAVEY SAMMONS PLANS TEN RACE RUN WITH URC IN 2011
In 2009, Davey Sammons of Bordentown, NJ delivered an impressive runner-up finish in the season long Rislone URC Sprint Series. In 2010, Sammons started the season with URC but later decided to do some 410 sprint car racing, an area where he will again have strong focus in 2011. The good news for URC is, in 2011, Davey Sammons has at least ten URC race dates planned. The owner of three Rislone URC career feature wins, Davey Sammons has targeted a selection of URC race dates that he plans to compete at, visiting tracks like Bridgeport, Georgetown, New Egypt, Rolling Wheels, Williams Grove, Port Royal and the Delaware International Speedway.
EG Tire & Auto Center is the recently announced major sponsor of the Sammons team and you should look for the new car number to be 747. On the track, Sammons is one of the most exciting drivers to compete on the Rislone URC Sprint Series and at the drop of any green flag, you can count on the fact that he knows how to get the job done. Off the race track, the youthful Sammons is always visible in the pits and one driver who always accepts to participate in the nightly meet and greet autograph sessions that take place at the various tracks on the URC schedule.
Davey Sammons will be in the pits when URC starts their 2011 season at the Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday night, April 9. Other dates on his schedule include the two race weekend on July 1 at Georgetown and July 2 at the New Egypt Speedway. Sammons also plans to be part of the two race URC sanctioned weekend at the Rolling Wheels Raceway on July 22 and 23. A two race weekend at the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, August 26 and the Saturday night, August 27 at the Port Royal Speedway are also on the schedule for the EG Tire & Auto 747 sprint car.
Three other planned stops for Sammons with his 360 URC sprint include the Georgetown Speedway on Sunday, September 4, Saturday, September 24 at the New Egypt Speedway and a visit to the Delaware International Speedway on Saturday night, October 1.
A reminder to all, URC will hold their annual Competitors Meeting on Sunday, March 13 at the Clarion Hotel in New Castle, DE at 1 PM. This annual meeting is a critical step to the success of the 2011 season. Topics to be reviewed include handicapping, car specification rules and race procedures as well as presenting the nine increased payoff special events planned for the coming season.
The meeting also provides an opportunity for race teams to purchase their annual URC license. A friendly reminder, team crew members should consider purchasing a license as well to get the many benefits associated with having a license.
