Don Marks Memorial Contribution to Motorsports Award Highlights BASH Racing Party During 26th Annual Racing Legends Reunion presented by Reading Eagle and WEEU 830 AM; Show Dates: Feb. 20-26 At Reading, Pa., Fairgrounds Square Mall

READING, PA - The highlight of the weeklong 26th annual Racing Legends Reunion & Car Show presented by Reading Eagle and WEEU 830 AM will be the presentation of the Don Marks Memorial Contribution to Motorsports Award.

The Don Marks Memorial Memorial Contribution to Motorsports Award winner is announced during the BASH Racing Party on Friday night (Feb. 25) of the show at the Temple Fire Company on Kutztown Road in Temple, Pa. The award is in loving memory of Marks, the longtime track photographer at Grandview (Pa.) Speedway with more than 25 years of service and well respected photographer for Area Auto Racing News. He was also very active with the Eastern Motorsport Press Association (EMPA). Marks passed away unexpectedly in April 2008 and left behind a legacy that may never be duplicated.

More than 100 race cars will jam the Fairgrounds Square Mall, located on 5th Street Highway in Reading, Pa., for the 26th edition of the Racing Legends Reunion & Car Show, now organized by BD Motorsports Media. Bob and Donna Miller founded the event more than a quarter century ago. The show kicks off Sunday, Feb. 20 and runs through Saturday, Feb. 26.

The Reading Eagle newspaper, a noted supporter of regional auto racing, and WEEU 830 AM "The Voice of Berks and Beyond" return to sponsor the show.

Last year, Area Auto Racing News publisher Lenny Sammons received the Don Marks Memorial Contribution to Motorsports Award for his efforts in promoting Northeast racing via his publication, mid-winter Motorsports shows and indoor racing events. Sammons was honored to receive the award carrying the name of his longtime friend Marks.

The auto racing public is encouraged to offer suggestions for the Don Marks Memorial honor. Individuals warranting nomination for the honor should be noted in an e-mail and sent to show management at Deyo99H@aol.com.

Members of the media will be invited to the BASH to show support of the Don Marks Memorial Award.

Of course, the overall Best of Show honors are handed out at the BASH Awards Party. New for 2011, the Best of Show car will be decided by show attendees. A ballot box located in the Center Court area will be set up for all visitors of the show to express their opinions on the Best of Show winner. Voters should take into account both the vehicle and display. Media members vote on all awards by respective division.

Racing DJ 'Jammin' Jimmy Payne has agreed to provide the music for the BASH Awards Party 2011. Payne has been brought in to bring new life into the event. DJ Jimmy Payne can be found on the web at www.jamminjimmypayne.com. The BASH Awards Party begins at 9 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the show during the week and at the door.

Payne's Lebanon, Pa.-based business will sponsor the second edition of the Penn National Speedway Speedway Reunion on Saturday evening (Feb. 26). Payne appropriately was a feature winner during the final season of the famed Grantville, Pa., oval in 1996.

Attendees of the Racing Legends Reunion & Car Show will be greeted by vendors selling racing collectibles, speedway and sanctioning body displays, interactive interviews and autograph sessions with popular drivers from yesterday, today and tomorrow.

The Reading Fairgrounds Speedway Racing Historical Society will be on hand with its popular display remembering the glory days of racing at the famed 'Home of Champions' which hosted its final race in 1979, won by Dave Kelly.
