HODNETT PUSHES POSSE STREAK TO NINE

MECHANICSBURG, PA--Greg Hodnett served notice that he was still the man to beat at Williams Grove Speedway with a convincing victory in the 25-lap World of Outlaws feature for sprint cars on Friday night.

Hodnett dominated opening night of National Open weekend and emerged with his 45th career victory at Williams Grove and his second of the season in World of Outlaws competition at this historic half mile.

The defending National Open champion followed Tim Shaffer past pole sitter Paul McMahan on the first lap.

The All Star champion set a blistering pace during the early stages of the race, but couldn’t shake the Williams Grove point leader. Hodnett used an inside move exiting turn four on lap 15 to take the lead. Once in front he opened a substantial margin between himself and Shaffer, but the gap began to close when Hodnett got to traffic in the final laps.

Shaffer was .684 behind Hodnett at the finish.

Hodnett earned $8000 for his victory, which pushed the Pennsylvania Posse’s winning streak to nine in World of Outlaws sanctioned races at Williams Grove.

McMahan followed Hodnett and Shaffer across the line.

Mike Erdley turned in an impressive performance to finish fourth after starting seventh.

Stevie Smith completed the top five ahead of Kerry Madsen, Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers, Brian Montieth, and Danny Lasoski.

Hodnett’s win also increased his lead over Montieth in the race for the Lawrence Chevrolet track championship.

David Gravel set fast time in qualifications with a lap of 17.107.

The five heats were won by Saldana, Shaffer, Donny Schatz, S. Smith and Meyers.

Montieth won the B-main, Justin Henderson the C-main and Jessica Zemken the D.

The dash went to McMahan.
