5th Annual Susquehanna Showdown Has a Possible $28,000-to-win Up for Grabs on Saturday, October 2



Newberrytown, PA (September 11, 2010) – The 5th Annual Susquehanna Showdown is highlighted with a 50-lap feature for the 358ci Late Models paying a possible $28,000-to-win on Saturday night, October 2 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. The race is presented by Cumberland Truck Equipment and HTMA. The winner is guaranteed $3,000-to-win with the chance to win an additional bonus of $25,000 in victory lane through the “Lucky Envelope Promotion.”



In victory lane, if the winner of the race correctly picks the two matching envelopes marked “Winner” on the inside from twenty envelopes, that driver will win the $25,000 bonus. The bonus money will be paid at a later date once the winning envelopes are verified. In order to be eligible for either the winner’s bonus or lead lap bonus, the driver must be pre-entered for the event by Monday, September 27, 2010. Other bonus prizes for the Late Models are available from Bernheisel Racecars; AFCO Racing Products; Miller’s Racing Parts and more.



The 2-day Susquehanna Showdown will also feature the Road Warrior World Championship (presented by JKS Services, Automotive Recycling & Towing) and Mini Van World Championship on Friday night. On Saturday night, the Super Sportsman Tour (presented by Chaparral Hunting Adventures and Blazer’s Body Shop) and the Pro Stocks will join the Late Models.



On Friday night, October 1, all qualifying for the Late Models will be done through heats races. Late Model heat races are presented by Blazer’s Body Shop and pay $25.00 to win, $15.00 for second and $10.00 for third. A blind draw will determine the heat race lineups for the Late Models.



Two other popular events for the Susquehanna Showdown this year include a Late Model Cash Dash and Tire Changing Contest. The Cash Dash presented by Hammaker’s Racing Engines in Grantville will consist of the 1st and 2nd place finishers from each Late Model heat with the finishing order determining the stating spots for the 50-lap Susquehanna Showdown. The Late Model Tire Changing Contest presented by Miller’s Racing Parts in Mechanicsburg will begin the events on Saturday night with the winning team collecting $300.00 for their efforts. The top 4 teams will receive prizes in the tire changing contest for their efforts.



On Friday night, gates will open for both the pit area at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstands at 5:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:00 p.m. General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Friday night are Adults (ages 18-59) $10.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $8.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $20.00. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 12 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 12 to 14.







Saturday night’s activities will be highlighted by the $3,000-to-win 50-lap Late Model feature event. There will also be qualifying races and features for both the Super Sportsman and Pro Stocks as well. Last chance qualifying races (B-Main and C-Mains) for the Late Models will be on the schedule as well.

The raindate will be Sunday, October 3, if necessary.



Last year’s Susquehanna Showdown had Germansville’s Jason Miller making his first-ever visit to the Susquehanna Showdown a memorable one by winning the 50 lap Cumberland Truck Parts Late Model feature event with a next to last lap pass of Bobby Beard. Former Late Model winners of the Susquehanna Showdown include Scott Richwine (2006), Tyler Hershey (2007) and Ashley Barrett (2008).



An entry fee is required all classes competing at the Showdown. Entry forms may be downloaded from ww.sspracing.net. or picked up at Miller’s Racing Parts in Mechanicsburg, PA. The Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, September 29. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night. The raindate for the Test & Tune will be Thursday, October 1.
