STRONG FIELD OF COMPETITORS EXPECTED FOR BPG FREEDOM 76



BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 16, 2010 . . . Many of the best known names in area dirt track stock car racing are expected to be in action when the 40th annual BPG Racing Freedom 76 Classic is presented at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, September 18th at 7 p.m. With more than $20,000 going to the winner of this Classic event there is a field of more than 60 racers being planned for.

Heading up the list of entries is two of the hottest talents in dirt track modified racing, Duane Howard and Stewart Friesen. In fact the two drivers will be teammates on the Chad Sinon owned BPG Racing team. Howard is the new NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified champion at Grandview and Friesen has more than 20 victories at a variety of tracks this season.

Six time Freedom 76 winner Billy Pauch will be in the field as will dirt track modified legend Jimmy Horton, former Orange County Speedway champion David VanHorn, New Egypt Speedway Modified point leader Rick Laubach, along with a long list of other standouts including eight time track champion Jeff Strunk, six time Grandview champion Craig VonDohren, 2009 Freedom 76 winner Meme DeSantis, Ryan Godown, Big Diamond Raceway 358 Modified champion Doug Manmiller and Penn Can Speedway champion Mike Gular.

Kenny Brightbill, the dirt track modified legend, had informed Grandview officials that he would be entered but there has been a change of plans. Brightbill is still anxious to participate but is looking for a ride.

During the afternoon the third annual Line-X of Lehigh Valley Freedom Fan Fest will take place on the speedway grounds. There will be a trivia contest with great prizes, driver interviews with track announcer Ernie Saxton, the presentation of the Racers Roundtable Driver of the Year award, rock music with Johnny Rock-It, a dunk tank, a chance to fans to color Troy Wink’s modified and much more. The Fan Fest goes on from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds from the Fan Fest will go to the Camelot House for Children in Allentown, PA.

Racing will get the green flag at 7 p.m. with a full series of qualifying races, the Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20, the BFP Speciality Cash Dash, and the BPG Racing Freedom 76.

Advance tickets will be on sale on the speedway grounds on Friday, September 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. near the first turn pavilion.

Gates will open at 3 p.m. on race day for advance ticket holders and ticket windows will open at 3:30 p.m.

Adult tickets are priced at $30, children 6 through 11 pay just $10 and under six are admitted free. There is free parking on the speedway grounds and additional parking across the street where a nominal fee is charged.

Pit admission is $40 and there is no NASCAR license required.

There is a September 25th rain date in place.

However should the rain date not be needed there will be a doubleheader show of open competition Modifieds and Late Models on Saturday, September 25th starting at 7 p.m. This will be the final regular season Saturday night event.

On Saturday, October 2nd, another NEETS Enduro event will be presented starting at 1 p.m.
