600CC MICRO SPRINTS ADDED TO A.C. GAMBLERS CLASSIC WEEKEND

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ September 4, 2010 . . . The 600cc Micro Sprint Car class will be part of the ninth annual Gambler’s Classic indoor race weekend at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ on January 28-29, 2011.

The division will be highlighted with a separate feature event from the headline TQ(Three Quarter)-Midgets only on Friday night, January 28. Qualifying, which will precede the 25-lap feature event, includes time trials and a B-Main in this one-day event.

“We are working closely with chassis manufacturers to design a set of rules that will make it easy and affordable for teams to bring their dirt cars to Atlantic City,” said event race director Danny Sammons. “There will be a mandated right-rear tire size, front-axle width, seat angle and other technical items to prevent participants from building a purpose-built car.”

The 25-lap feature race will pay a minimum of $500 to win. In keeping with the tradition of the Gambler’s Classic, the winning driver, if he takes part in the Gambler's bonus program, will receive $1,500. Pending sponsorship, the purse of the event could be increased further. Interested parties are urged to call the number below for details.

The entry list will be limited to 40 cars.

In addition to the designated Friday afternoon practice, those wishing for additional track time can do so on Thursday, January 27 with a special paid-practice session.

Drivers cannot compete in both the 600cc Micro Sprint Car and the TQ-Midget division during weekend.

As has been the case during the long-and-storied history of the fan-friendly race at Boardwalk Hall, the 600cc Micro Sprint Cars will be able run with the TQ-Midget class, but the same car cannot race in both events.

Kunkletown, Pa.’s Ryan Smith drove a 600cc Micro Sprint Car to a fourth place finish in the most recent Gambler’s Classic event. In addition, Glenn Heverin and Rob Vivona joined Smith as 600cc Micro Sprint Car qualifiers.

Lou Cicconi of Aston, Pa., is the defending champion of the TQ-Midget indoor race.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and available at the Boardwalk Hall box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by calling (800)-736-1420, or online at http://www.ticketmaster.com/.

Ticket prices remain the same from 2010, with kids 12 and under just $5 and adults as low as $15 on Friday and $20 on Saturday. All tickets are $2 more the day of the event.

Final details for the A.C. Boardwalk Hall race are still be finalized.

Information on the event is available at http://www.aarn.com/ or by calling (609)-888-3618.
