FRIDAY: SUMMER NATIONALS OPENER TO LANCE DEWEASE

MECHANICSBURG, PA -- Lance Dewease ran the Pennsylvania Posse’s winning streak to seven over the World of Outlaws at Williams Grove Speedway in the Summer Nationals 25-lap sprint car feature on Friday night.

Dewease started fifth in a talent-laden 28-car field and moved into fourth place after one lap.

Paul McMahan set the early pace with Chad Layton second and Steve Kinser third.

On lap seven Kinser attempted to slide under Layton exiting turn four, but hit the outside guard rail and flipped into Layton sending both cars to the pit area for repairs.

Dewease lined up behind McMahan on the restart and stalked the leader until lap eleven when he used an inside move exiting turn four to take the top spot.

Once in front Dewease began to drive away from the field.

Donny Schatz took second place from McMahan on lap fifteen, but was unable to challenge Dewease for the lead and finished 2.59 seconds behind the leader.

Jason Meyers, who started tenth, finished third. McMahan settled for fourth and Williams Grove’s Lawrence Chevrolet point leader Greg Hodnett completed the top five after starting eleventh.

Don Kreitz, Jr., Danny Dietrich, Stevie Smith, Alan Krimes and Sammy Swindell finished in positions six through ten respectively.

The victory for Dewease was his fourth of the season at Williams Grove and the 74th of his career at this historic half mile.

It was the second World of Outlaws victory this week for Dewease, 44, of Fayetteville, who won at Western Pennsylvania’s Lernerville Speedway on Tuesday night.

The victory was Dewease’s eighth World of Outlaws triumph at his home track and his first since July 23, 2004.

Schatz set fast time in qualifications with a lap of 17.319.

Heats for the 48 sprint cars were won by McMahan, Meyers, Swindell and Layton.

Jonathan Allard won the B-main and Brian Montieth the C.

Paul McMahan won the Crane Cams Dash.
