Christine and Scott Jr. Visit SSP Victory Lane on Saturday Night for First Time in 2010
Newberrytown, PA (July 17, 2010) – On a hot summer night, the action was fast and furious at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night, July 17. After a one week layoff from the season, track preparer Bobby Weaver spent a large amount of time preparing the racy track on Saturday that had a cushion providing lots of side-by-side action. Manchester’s Randy Christine Jr. visited victory lane for the first time since 2008 by winning the 20-lap Late Model feature event. Bob Scott Jr. of Felton won his first of the year in the 20-lap Street Stock feature event. Jason Failor of Newville found a way to beat 9-time winner Donnie Broderick in the 20-lap Xtreme Stock feature. Andrew Frye of Etters claimed his fifth XSC Elite feature race of the year. Brent Marquis of Churchville, Maryland claimed his first career win in the 15-lap Legends Cars feature event. York Haven’s Daryl Sipe won the 12-lap Mini Van feature by less than six inches over Robert Fryberger on the last lap pass.
Racing action returns to the SSP Outback Track on Friday night, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. featuring quarter midget, kart, lawnmowers and Adult Speedcar racing action. This race is part of the 2010 Summer Shoot-Out Series. Racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
Racing action returns to the Big Track at SSP on Saturday night, July 24 with an annual summertime special visit to SSP for “Christmas in July.” On the racing card will be the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, XSC Elite, Classic Cars and Road Warriors. Racing begins at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday will also be the next “Hometown Heroes” night of the season featuring the towns of Halifax, Jonestown, Fredricksburg, Mt. Penn and Ono. All fans entering the speedway from the hometowns being honored will be admitted FREE to the grandstands by showing proper photo identification and filling out an information card at the ticket booth.

- Repeat Fan Discount Continues for 2010 – The popular “Repeat Fan Discount” program will continue at SSP in 2010. There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
Swap Meet Added to the Next Wednesday Night Test & Tune on July 21
The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be held on Wednesday, July 21 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits. The fuel pumps from Miller’s Racing Parts will not be open. Anyone needing fuel should contact Miller’s Racing Parts directly at 717-766-0181. The main concession stand will be open throughout the night.
Also on Wednesday night, there will an open practice session for quarter midgets and karts at the Outback Track from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. under the lights. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The cost will be $20.00 per driver with no charge for anyone else entering the grandstand and “cold pit” areas. All Outback Track participants should enter the pits from the Kise Mill Road entrance behind turn 2 of the “Big Track.”
There will also be a bi-weekly racing swap meet added to all Wednesday Night Test & Tunes scheduled for 2010 at SSP. The event is free to buy, sell or look. All sellers will set up in the parking lot across the street from the speedway. The times are from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Any racing related items may be sold new or used from go karts/quarter midgets to full-size racecars and everything in between. This will give teas a chance to raise money by getting rid of equipment not needed and give other teams a chance to search for those items needed to stay on the track in 2010. Cars, engines, parts and trailers may be available.
