Joey Kay Wins 600cc Micro-Sprint Feature; Richie Hartman (270cc), Mike Glass (Slingshot) and Chris Kurtz (Junior Slingshot) Also Record Victories At Kutztown Wednesday



KUTZTOWN, PA - Joey Kay pulled one off.



Kay, of Pipersville, Pa., won for the first time this season in the 20-lap wingless 600cc Micro-Sprint feature at the Fairgrounds at Kutztown Speedway Wednesday night. It marked Kay's first top-five finish of the season at the Berks County clay oval, as well.



Starting seventh, Kay motored his No. 12 into second on lap three and began his pursuit of race leader Rhett Long, who had taken over the top spot on the opening lap. Kay ran with Long through lap 11, when Long's No. 86 spun entering turn three.



Kay then inherited the lead and fought off the advances of Brett Michalski for the checkered. Michalski was second after starting eighth, followed by 11th-starter Jeff Hartman, who took over third on the final lap. Jesse Hartman and Steve Kemery were fourth and fifth, respectively.



After placing the runner-up during each of the season's first three events, Richie Hartman of Shoemakersville, Pa., finally broke into the Kutztown 270cc Micro-Sprint win column.



Driving the RTS Chassis No. 2, Hartman started from the pole and led every circuit of the 20-lap main. Ed Kenderdine, making his first start of the season at Kutztown, was second, followed by Opening Night winner Ross Perchak, Jay Hartman (up from eighth) and Brandon Edgar.



Mike Glass of Easton, Pa., led the entire 20-lap Slingshot feature for his first win of 2010. Shannon Smith repelled the advances of hometown driver Jordan Henn for second. Brett Bieber and 11th-starter Brad Arnold completed the front five.



Chris Kurtz of East Stroudsburg, Pa., became a repeat winner in the 20-lap Junior Slingshot main, placing in front of T.J. Lilly and Louden Reimert.



Racing resumes at the Fairgrounds at Kutztown Speedway next Wednesday (June 9) with wingless 600cc Micro-Sprints, 270cc Micro-Sprints, Slingshots and Junior Slingshots in competition.



Gates open at 4 p.m., with practice at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission for 2010 is as follows: Adults -$8; Students (10-17)/Seniors/Kutztown Residents with ID - $5; Kids under 10 - FREE. Pit admission is $20 (no membership required) and car registration is $20.

FAIRGROUNDS FODDER: With ARDC in competition at Lincoln (Pa.) Speedway, car counts remained respectable at 30 270cc Micro-Sprints, 18 600cc Micro-Sprints, 18 Slingshots and five Junior Slingshots. Racing was completed by 9:30 p.m....

The 600Scene.com Hard Charger for the wingless 600cc Micro-Sprints was Jeff Hartman, who raced from 11th to third, gaining eight positions. Hartman also took over the point lead from Ryan Smith and Brett Arndt, who were racing at Lincoln....



Heat winners were Arron Spahr, Jeff Hartman and Brian Carber (wingless 600cc); Jay Horvath, Ross Perchak, Brandon Edgar and Ed Kenderdine (270cc), Matt Miller and Mike Glass (Slingshot); and Chris Kurtz (Junior Slingshot). Jared Kunkle won the 270cc consolation....
