BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 30, 2010 . . . Late Model stock car racing will be in the limelight this Saturday night, July 3rd, at NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway when they get to race in the annual Firecracker 40 race. What makes it significantly different this year is that first place will pay $5,000, almost three times what it paid to win last year, the largest payoff for a Saturday night Late Model victory in the history of the Grandview Speedway.

C.J. High and Associates, financial advisors, will be sponsoring their first event at the Berks County clay oval and they have picked a good one to get involved with. The Late Model racers are anxious to go at it for the big bucks and fans are anxious to see the “fireworks” created with all the Late Model hot shoes going for the win. There is a lot of interest in the race.

The all time leading Late Model feature winner, amongst active drivers, is Randy Stoudt and he made everyone aware that he was ready to go after the $5,000 first place money when he won the feature last Saturday night. Young Mike Kellner also looked strong as did three feature winner Ron Kline. Point leader Brian Shuey will be at his best as will past champion Chuck Schutz, newcomer Randall Paxton and a host of others. And don’t be surprised to see a few “visitors” coming to try for the lucrative victory.

In addition to the excitement of Late Model stock car racing, the 7:30 p.m. show will also feature the Duane Howard and Craig VonDohren show in the 358 Modifieds. The two have been swapping victories in recent weeks and both are on hot streaks. Howard continues to be the point leader in the chase for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified track title. Jon Kellner Sr. has been in the thick of the battle in recent weeks with others having strong showings including Mike Gular, Terry Meitzler, Kevin Hirthler, Ryan Godown and more. And don’t count out eight time champion Jeff Strunk.

Interesting to note that Howard and VonDohren qualified through the consolation races last Saturday, started way back in the 28 car feature race and still came through the pack with VonDohren winning and Howard in a close second place finish.

The Saturday, July 3rd C.J. High & Associates Night will also include a spectacular fireworks display and Late Model racer Kory Fleming and his sponsors will be giving away four bicycles to lucky youngsters in the grandstands.

Adult admission for the tripleheader show will be $20 for adults, $5 for youngsters 6 through 11 and under 6 are admitted free. Military personnel in uniform with proper ID are admitted free.

Closing out the Fourth of July weekend will be a Sunday, 2 p.m. doubleheader that will feature the NEETS Enduro racers and SpeedSTRS.

Coming up on Saturday, July 10th is the 3 Starz Landscaping (Hatboro, PA) sponsored doubleheader featuring the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Model stock cars in another 7:30 p.m. start.
