HOWARD AND SCHUTZ EACH GET SECOND WINS OF THE SEASON AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
Bechtelsville, PA June 20, 2010 . . . For the second time this season Duane Howard, the current NASCAR 358 Modified point leader, was able to drive the BPG Racing/Troyer Race Parts No. 4 to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. Chuck Schutz, a past champion in the Late Model division, drove the BPG Racing/Jesse Baro Trucking No. 1 to his second win of the season in the 20-lap main event for the NASCAR Late Models.
Craig VonDohren came on strong in the final laps to challenge Howard in the 30-lap Modified feature but fell short and had to settle for second. Third spot went to Jon Kellner Sr. who had challenged for the win a couple of times. Eight time track champion Jeff Strunk, coming from 21st starting spot, finished fourth followed by past champion Terry Meitzler.
The 20-lap Late Model feature saw the top five finishers surviving numerous cautions with Schutz a comfortable margin in front of defending late model champion and current point leader Brian Shuey. Randall Paxton, continuing his consistent top five finishes grabbed third followed by early leader Nate Christman and Danny Snyder.

FULL RACE RESULTS STORY
HOWARD AND SCHUTZ WIN NASCAR FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY NIGHT
Bechtelsville, PA June 20, 2010 . . . Current NASCAR 358 Modified point leader Duane Howard drove the BPG Racing/Troyer Race Cars No. 4 to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified feature on Whelen Engineering Night at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. The companion 20-lap feature for the NASCAR Late Models was won by past champion Chuck Schutz for his second win of the season.
Jeremy Banos charged out in front of the field at the drop of the green and set the early pace. With just three laps in the record book Shawn Reimert crashed hard into the fourth wall but was not injured. On the restart Banos was again in front and at the ten lap marker he and Bob Lilick Jr. were running one-two with Duane Howard, coming from 15th starting spot, now running in fifth.
At 16 laps, after a caution, Duane Howard was in front. Three laps later a multi-car accident in the fourth turn had Jarrad Miller rolling his racer but walking away uninjured. On the restart Howard was in front with veteran Jon Kellner Sr. challenging for the lead.
With five laps left in the race Howard, Craig VonDohren and Kellner Sr. were locked in a tight battle. A tire on the track brought out the caution on the 26th circuit closing up the field on Howard.
For the final four laps Howard, who makes his home in Oley, set the pace and was able to run the low groove to hold on to win his second of the season and the $2,200 that goes with the victory. Craig VonDohren (Boyertown) came home with a strong second place finish followed by Jon Kellner Sr. (Lansdale), Jeff Strunk (Bechtelsville) and Terry Meitzler (Kutztown).
The win was a role reversal for Howard as on the Tuesday night prior he had finished second to VonDohren at Grandview in a 100-lap DIRT Super Series race. Howard continues to lead in the NASCAR 358 Modified point standings.
The 20-lap feature for NASCAR Late Models saw Nate Christman charge to the front. On the second lap a caution for a three car tangle in turn two closed up the field. On the restart Christman was in charge with Bill Henning giving him pressure for the lead.
At the ninth circuit Chuck Schutz, coming from seventh put the BPG Racing/Jesse Baro Trucking entry in front of the field.
Surviving a number of cautions Schutz, who calls Pottstown home, managed to hold on to the top spot for the balance of the 20 laps to get his second win of the season. The win put him in third spot in the chase for the Late Model title.
Second spot went to defending champion and current point leader Brian Shuey (Shoemakersville) followed by Randall Paxton Jr. (Factoryville), Nate Christman (Oley) and Danny Snyder (Green Lane).
Qualify heats, 12 laps, for the 45 Modifieds on hand, were won by Bobby Gunther Walsh, Jeremy Banos, Ron Seltman and Todd Marburger while the consolation races, each 10 laps, were won by Jeff Strunk and Shawn Reimert. Qualifying heats for the 25 Late Models on hand, each race running eight laps, saw the victories taken by Mike Kellner, Randall Paxton Jr. and Brian Shuey. The consolation win went to Doug Walton.
The Dan’s Deli Halfway Leader Award for the Late Model feature went to Chuck Schutz while the same award went to Duane Howard in the NASCAR 358 Modified feature. Ray Swinehart earned the Cargo Trailer Sales 10th Place award while John Landis earned the same award in the Late Models.
Coming up on Saturday, June 26th is the Don Marks Memorial a doubleheader show of NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Models starting at 7:30 p.m. and sponsored by BPG Racing. The is event is run in memory of the late track photographer who was with the speedway for more than 25 years.
Then on Tuesday, June 29th, 7:30 p.m. Bob Miller and Bruce Rogers, co-promoters of the Thunder on the Hill Series, bring the 410 Sprints and 358 Modifieds to Grandview Speedway for an exciting doubleheader show.
