SHORT STORY

HIRTHLER AND KLINE WIN NASCAR FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 23, 2010 . . . Ma Nature created a heavy rain storm late Saturday afternoon at Grandview Speedway and that created a two hour delay in starting the races as the track crew worked miracles in getting the track ready for competition.

Once ready the track proved to be lightning fast with Kevin Hirthler coming from 14th starting spot to drive the Green Lane Wm. Penn No. 117 to victory in the 3 Starz Landscaping 30-lap NASCAR 358 Modified feature race. Ron Kline brought his ING Financial No. 3 from 18th starting position to win the 20-lap Late Model feature for the third time this season.

Bobby Gunther Walsh led for seven laps before Troy Wink went to the front in the Modified feature and looked to be his way to victory. Hirthler charged to the front in the caution filled race on the 19th circuit and set the pace for thee balance of the feature event. Current Modified point leader Duane Howard finished second after starting in 23rd spot. Third place went to young Jordon Umbenhauer followed by Jeff Strunk (coming from 29th starting spot) and Billy Pauch Jr. who started 15th in the 31 car starting field.

The Late Model feature had John Giesler, who had not won since 1998, leading for half the race before Ron Kline charged to the front and led the rest of the way. Giesler held on for second followed by Nate Christman, Randall Paxton and Chuck Schutz.

The Keystone Cup 410 Sprints will be in action along with the Sportsman stock cars on Wednesday, May 26th starting at 7:30 p.m. while on Saturday, May 29th the NASCAR 358 Modifieds along with the Late Models return to action with a 7:30 p.m. start.
