BECHTELSVILLE, PA March 18, 2010 . . . The excitement of seeing the new racing equipment will bring fans out to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, March 27th as the traditional free-to-the-public practice session is presented started at 12 noon.

Practice makes perfect and racers will be trying to make sure their race cars, and there will be all types of race cars there on practice day, are in perfect condition for the official start of the 49th season of stock car racing at the Berks County clay oval on Saturday, April 3rd, 7 p.m.

Race teams have spent the winter months building new equipment or refurbishing their older equipment in hopes of making this a competitive season of racing at Grandview Speedway.

“There is something exciting in the air on practice days,” said track owner Bruce Rogers. “I still get a big kick out of seeing the racers bringing their equipment, the new paint jobs, to practice day to work out any problems and to make sure the race car is in peak condition for the season opener. It is going to be a great season of racing at Grandview.”

Practice day is particular important to the new racers, rookies, just starting their careers at Grandview either in Modifieds or Late Models.

With the practice day out of the way all attention will turn to the season opener with the NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modifieds and the Late Models seeing action in a doubleheader show that will start at 7 p.m.

Eight time NASCAR Modified champion Jeff Strunk will be shooting for his ninth title while Late Model champion Brian Shuey will be going for his second title in a row and third of his career.

Ticket prices will remain the same with adults paying just $13 for a regular Saturday night event while youngsters 6 thru 11 pay just $5. Little ones under 6 are admitted FREE when accompanied by a paying adult. Servicemen in uniform are admitted FREE and there is always FREE parking on the speedway grounds.

Youngsters up to the age of 11 will have the opportunity to win prizes as part of the Virtual Essense Hair Salon Easter Egg Hunt set for Saturday, April 3rd. The youngsters, broken down into three different age groups, will be sent off to look for Easter Eggs located throughout the speedway grounds.

Virtual Essense, located in Gilbertsville, offers tanning, waxing, massage, nails, hair styling and more.

Race teams are reminded that on April 3, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. there will be a NASCAR representative at the track to sell NASCAR licenses. It is suggested that if you have not obtained your licenses before that date that you plan to arrive early in order to avoid the long lines. Everyone entering the pit area at Grandview Speedway will be required to have a NASCAR license.

NASCAR sanctioned Grandview Speedway is located at 43 Passmore Road, just off Route 100 in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For race information telephone 610.754.7688 or check in at http://www.grandviewspeedway.com/.
