GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY CONTINUES TO BE A SUCCESS STORY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA February 25, 2010 . . . Now ready to kick off the 49th consecutive season of stock car racing, Grandview Speedway continues to be one of the most successful short track auto racing operations in the area and some say in the country.
The secret of success has been, according to a majority of fans and racers, the consistent two division shows and the effort put forth by track owner Bruce Rogers and his staff. The NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modifieds and Late Models have been the Saturday night attraction, April through September, for many years.
Every once in a while Rogers adds some variety with an added attraction such as URC Sprints, ARDC Midgets, SpeedSTRS, Sidewinders and more. However the main emphasis is the Modifieds and Late Models, with special extra distance events being run for each division from time-to-time during the season. Rogers goal is to continue to provide exciting events for the regular fans and increase attendance by attracting new fans with special attractions.
And the price of admission is a surprisingly low, $13 for adults for the regular Saturday night shows, youngsters 6 thru 11 pay just $5 and children under 6 are admitted FREE when accompanied by a paying adult. Members of the military, in uniform, are admitted FREE.
“Grandview provides fans with an exciting evening of racing and gets the fans out at a reasonable hour,” said Modified racer Bobby Gunther Walsh. “The reason for their success for so long is that they take care of the fans and they make sure the racers are taken care of. There is always a strong car count so the fans get to see some great racing action and the finishes are so unpredictable. Each season there are so many different feature winners.
“As a racer Grandview gives my sponsors some excellent exposure. They have RCN televising about a half dozen events and my sponsors love that. They do a great job with the public and media relations and that keeps my sponsors in the news plus the track magazine, the Grandview Groove, is one of the best track publications offered at any area speedway. The staff at Grandview just seems to do everything in the right way to keep the fans and racers happy.”
Gunther, the early morning radio personality at WAEB-790 AM, will be kicking off his 13th season of Modified racing at Grandview when the traditional free-to-the-public practice session takes place at noon on March 27th. That event is the final opportunity for race teams to test and tune their race cars for the new season.
The season officially gets the green flag at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 3rd, with a doubleheader show featuring the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Modifieds along with the Late Model stock cars. RCN-TV will be taping this event for future broadcasting.
Then on Sunday, April 4th, the NEETS Enduro Series will be in action at 2 p.m. along with the exciting SpeedSTRS open cockpit winged racers.
Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road (43 Passmore Rd for those using a GPS device), just off Route 100 in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For information check in at http://www.grandviewspeedway.com/ or telephone 610.754.7688.
