Winning a tire counts !! Journalism 101, always grab the attention of the readers… and judging by recent responses, I have exactly 8 to 10 readers of this Gazette. LOL… But really, Geezer won something Saturday night… a new tire!!
Special thanks to Brett Deyo who manages the American Racer Cup, a separate points fund for those who chose to enter pre-season a tire manufacturers contest which offers points, prizes and some monetary rewards at season end just for the American Racers Cup participants. QUICK RESULTS:
The #22 finished the qualifier 3rd out of the ten car 12 lap heat race… changes were made by the plentiful Saturday night crew and we finished the 30 lap AD More Lumber sponsored main event in 20th. Key word ‘’finished’’… as we continue to learn what changes to try for feature. Great to meet some new folks whom were sponsoring the evenings races. Really neat to see how much they enjoy being in the spotlight while enjoying this sport to its fullest. Thank you AD Moyer and ‘Bryan’ for introducing yourself to me before the event and making it fun.
GEEZER GAB:
· Special thanks to the 22 crew for the help Saturday night, couldn’t do this without them !! Cathy Green, Wendy Wojnar, Bob Higginbotham, Todd Lapp, JD Nathan and Brett. Honorable mention goes to ‘’Al’’ who puts in many hours but just can’t commit lately….Thank you Al, miss ya man!!
· Congrats Jared Umbenhauer on his second ever Modified feature win during the makeup feature, Doug Manmiller on his second of the season during the 30 lap main event, Dylan Swinehart on his second ever Sportsman victory and Chuck Schutz on the feature win in the 20 lap BRC Late Model feature !!
· Goodies for the night supplied by Checkered Flag Bakery ( see pic ) and do yourself a favor, if ya need sweets for an event look up Missie and get the Geezer discount.
· Sean Weiss was runnin smooth until a jingle set him to the pits about halfway through the main event. The #24 Ziggs Home Improvement Sportsman car has been fast and the team will be winning in no time.
· Dan Lane Junior took a week off from racing for a special event, but still didn’t wash the #22 modified. He now owes Geezer 5 coffees. HA
· As this is being typed up in an un-air conditioned room, Wendy and Chris Wojnar are at the beach probably chillin on the sand with a drink in hand…LOL ENJOY !!

NEXT EVENT:
This Saturday night, July 22nd at Grandview Speedway, will be Hatfield Quality Meats Night, sure to be another action night with racing consisting of TP Trailer Modifieds , Sportsmans, BRC Late Models and the Blast From the Past Vintage group with a full card of qualifying and features! Pretty sure adult will be $15 general admission, with kids 11 and under free, but always check the web site to verify. Racing starts at 7:30 pm, hot laps around 7. Free blank index cards (while supplies last) at 22 trailer after the races… and sometimes left over goodies, but no guarantees on that. We also have hats and window stickers for those brave souls who would display them…LOL . Always check out the track site www.grandviewspeedway.com for updates/info.
