The new Spirit Auto Center Speedway quarter mile is set to throw the green flag on the 2016 season with its first Friday night show, this Friday, April 8th.
The winged 270cc Micros and wingless 600cc Micros will be featured in each of the season's events, along with the 4 Cylinder Enduro Cars. Other divisions will be featured throughout the season, like 8 Cylinder Enduros, Slingshots and Xcel 600 Modifieds. The Sprint Cars of TSRS will race on the 5/8 mile track during two Spirit Auto Center Speedway Friday night events. On June 24th TSRS. the 270cc & 600cc Micros and the 4 Cylinder Enduros will be part of the Monster Truck Exhibition. TSRS returns on Friday, August 5th.
The Open Modifieds return to quarter mile action three times this season - May 20th, July 29th and August 26th. Jimmy Horton picked up his first win on the quarter mile last season. The action is close and the racing is always exciting when the Open Modifieds take to the quarter mile track!
On Saturday, May 7th, the Spirit Auto Center Speedway will join forces with the Bridgeport Speedway to present the first ever Pack the House Night! The 270cc and 600cc Micros and 4 Cylinder Enduros will compete on the quarter mile while the Crate/Sportsman, Outlaw Stocks and Rookies will race on the 5/8 mile speedway with admission being totally FREE for all race fans!
The ever popular Poker Series gets underway on Sunday, May 15 when the Stage 1 Modifieds, Xcel 600 Modifieds and Slingshots will join the 270cc & 600cc Micro Sprints. Poker Series events follow on Sundays, June 5th, July 10th, July 24th, August 14th with the final hand of the Series on September 11th.
The 2016 Points will conclude with the final Friday night show on September 16th.
The Spirit Auto Center Speedway 2016 season will conclude with a big three day weekend with the 6th Annual Bill Thomas Memorial event, October 21-23.
A new 600cc Micro Champion will be crowned this season as 2015 Champion, Lee Nardelli has moved into another division. However, Nardelli's winning mount will return this season with a new number and a new driver. A name well known to the Bridgeport Speedway, Travis Hill, will compete in the 600s this season. Hill has raced a stock car on the quarter mile but this will be his first venture in an open wheel car.
2015 270cc Micro Champion, Tyler Reinhardt, and 4 Cylinder Champion, Chris Sammons will return to defend their titles as well as Christopher Allen, Sr. in the 8 Cylinder Enduros. Nardelli won ten times in 600 competition last season with Jermain Godshall taking two wins and Sam LaMothe, Sam Locuson, Chris Locuson and Jay Hartman each picking up a single win. Reinhardt won six times during his championship season with Jay Hartman and Jacob Hendershot each winning four events. Rich Keller had three wins while Sean Huesser and Andrew Locuson each had a single win in 270 action. Chris Sammons won the championship but it was Art Knabb who picked up six wins to Sammons two win last season. Tom Wolf was the only repeat winner in the 8 Cylinder Enduros.
The New Spirit Auto Center Speedway is ready to go! The first green flag of the season waves at 8pm on Friday night!
